Denim, puma shoes and XXXX socks

I apologize if this has been discussed to death, but I searched and found little.

When I wear jeans and Puma shoes, specifically black or brown Ligas, what kind of socks should I wear? Im a fashion neophyte and currently wear white tube socks and I feel like an idiot. Please help.

Should I wear the socks you cant see? Ankle socks in black?

I need to get my learn on.

I've got brown suede Ligas that I typically wear with blue argyles.

I prefer any nylon-cotton dress sock. Pure white cotton socks not only get dirtied easily, but they stink after a long day of walking too.
