I vote for Tan, I love the contrast between the canvas and the leather.

I'm planning to get a brown 256 from Crane's in the very near future but I'm debating on whether or not to get a handgrip. Would it be a lot more comfortable if I decide to carry it without the shoulder strap? How comfortable are the straps without the handgrip?

I'm planning to carry my macbook, a textbook, and a folder with some papers so it's not going to be too heavy.

Any input?
thanks

Get the handgrip.

The shoulder strap will last longer if you occasionally carry your bag with the handgrip.

Can anyone take a shot of the Filson Tote (preferably without zipper, but okay with) being held by the straps at your side, as opposed to over the shoulder? I like the bag, but I'm not sure if the handles are too long and would just swing around while I'm walking and/or even scrape the ground, as I am <6 feet tall. I really wish it had typical tote-like shorter handles. Thanks in advance.

Still can't decide between a brown or tan bag? And I still can't decide if I should get the handgrip or not. Why is it so hard to choose?!!

Some help here.

I am deciding between the Filson Pullman and the Passage Carry On. I like the Pullman better but I am concerned about the size of it. Seems to come very close to carry on limits, has anyone used this bag for carry on?

Either colour looks great, and will age well. I have the tan, but could have easily gone with the brown. I would advise against a handgrip because I like the sprezz of the floppy handles (once they break in and soften up), but i think i am a minority in that respect.

I've carried this bag on planes multiple times, however in Canada. It is a bit awkward to lug for long periods of time, but otherwise, the size is perfect. I really like it and would suggest it for basic weekend travel.

I'm trying to get the Filson 257 in Brown online. But most retailers like Crane's are out of stock. Anyone got any sites with good prices?

Life on SF:

1. Stumble upon new thread.
2. Read it.
3. Realize what you have is inadequate.
4. Want to get one of the really nice things pictured.
5. Search all over the internet to see if one is on sale.
6. Can't find it.
7. Figure it's too expensive.
8. Go back to the thread and read about how X thing will last for years and years and years.
9. Figure it's not so bad, if you can one day find it on sale.
10. Put it on a growing list of things to get.

Solomon Outfitters has Filson 257 brown in stock for a cheap price. http://www.solomonoutfitters.com/Filson/Filson_257.html I want to order the filson 256 in brown from them but they never reply to my emails. Could someone please call them (210) 834-7656 and ask if they have any in stocks for me? I can't do it because I'm in Australia =/

9. Buy it anyway, even though it's price is entirely unjustified.
