If Filson pitched a fit at Crane's for offering too big a discount, it only seems fair that they do the same to Sportco.

I don't know if this is the place to ask, but why does Filson care? If places like Crane's and Sportco can offer a deeper discount, they move more goods, and Filson makes more money. How is this bad for Filson? The logic escapes me. Are they afraid that it's going to undermine their brand somehow? Even with a discount, their stuff is still hardly cheep.

Underselling is a short-sided approach to retail. Filson knows this...so do the big guys (Bloomingdales) and they wont carry stuff they can't make a proffit from. There is only so much floor/shelf space...

If that's the case and Crane's did tattle, that would really stink for everyone on Style Forum who read about the Sportco/eBags/Bing offer and was hoping to get a good deal.

Could you explain a little more fully? I suppose there is logic, but I still don't understand. Clearly I'm not in retail...

To take the glass half full view, even so, if the cash back and price match thing still works, you're getting the bag at a damned good price, despite their best efforts.

Correct and don't forget about free shipping. I believe that normally eBags shipping runs $17+ for regular ground. I actually got charged $16.95 when I ordered last week and two days later I receive an eBags email alerting me to their free shipping. I just nicely wrote eBags asking if they would reimburse me for the shipping since they posted a promotion so soon to my order. They refunded me the shipping costs without any problems whatsoever. I tell you one thing, eBags will definitely make a repeat customer out of me.

If retailers like Bloomingdales can't make a decent profit margin on Filson because eBags or Sprotco or Cranes is selling at a discount, they wont carry Filson. So in the end Filson loses sales. There is nothing more attractive to a retailer than margin....and only a few care about anything else.

Mulling a Filson 257 brown mint. Great price. Will I regret it?

Does anyone have pictures of someone holding the small and medium duffel bags? (would also be nice to get the person's height!) I want to be able to visually compare them before I order one online!

Thanks!

Ta.

My 13" mac unibody (no sleeve) fits in one of the two interior pockets comfortably. A 14" hp fits in the other after a little stretching. 15" unibody won't fit in either of the two large inside pockets, but will fit comfortably in the main compartment.
