Filson Bag Thread: With Pictures - Page 387

I second getting the 24h bag in navy. For most work places, I think navy works well. Would be inclined for Otter more for luggage.

The black label is cool. Prefer it to the recent Made at Filson tags. Maybe special edition for a specific retailer.

Speaking of black label, Filson Italy has some stuff called Black Label, Apparently Filson has some unique products too there including pre-distressed duffles etc.

I also just received a 256 (in Navy) from an eBay seller.  Mine, however, does have the usual white tag.  Not sure it matters - you could check for the additional tag.  It should be just inside one of the inside pockets.   Was looking for something a tad larger than the Ernest Alexander Crosby I was using daily.  The navy looks great, but I am already wondering if I should have chosen the 257 instead of the 256.  The 256 is perfect for daily... but a little more space for an occasional travel might have been nice.

After carrying the 257 for a few years I began to explore the tote again after needing more room. I finally pulled the trigger on the zipper tote and immediately regretted it. So instead of returning it I though I would try making it into the bag I wanted. I shortened the handles and added the shoulder strap and anchors from my small duffel. This is now the best Filson bag that I've owned. The size and weight are perfect for what I've been looking for.

Dear 177itch,

Love your modding of the tote. Could you please post some better and more detailed pictures?

I do like the idea that you used the attachment points of your old small duffle. Any idea how to do something similar without cutting a duffle apart?

Thx flo

Not sure if this applies to anyone here, but I hope if it does it provides a sufficient explanation. Last week I placed an order through Filson's website for a tan rucksack with my gift card that I've had for more than a year now. After the order was placed I put the remainder of the gift card's value on a gift card selling website. This morning I received an email from Filson saying the rucksack was out of stock and therefore they were returning the funds back to my gift card. In a perfect storm situation, someone also purchased my gift card today though luckily the website caught that the gift card's amount was almost double the listed value because of Filson's refund today. Therefore the transaction was cancelled. I will again be posting the gift card's proper value once I get a separate one issued by Filson for the amount of the rucksack as I still plan on getting one when they restock.

The new full leather (called "Weatherproof") briefcase, roller, duffle, and backpack have been intrroduced in the 800 to 1300 buck range. I wonder if the leather in this series will be superior to that of the rugged twill bags. Advertised as W&C leather too

I think filson has its description wrong as to who the tanner is. On this description it says horween makes the leather and w&c are responsible for the bridle trim.

I have a briefcase in Horween Essex. Impressive stuff. Tough but supple rather than rigid. Deep complex color. If the new leather duffles are anything like the leather on my newer Filson twill bags, I will take Horween any day of the week.

Anyone have experience with the Meridian tote? Seems pretty perfect with it's zippered top as a carryall for day to day use.

Filson bag is going on it's 4th year. Held the grad school books well and hopefully going to hold future business work as well.

Have the Meridian duffle. Imagine the tote is similar. A little lighter and more refined than the twill totes due to the lining and leather bottom. Also on sale at Filson Summer Sale.
i assume it will be discontinued shortly if this follow the usual pattern.

Thought I'd say here since it's relevant, I just bought a 256 in tan from a local place. Gonna compare it with my black 258 and see which I like more, return the other tomorrow. If someone is interested I could pass on a great deal, about 35% off retail

Hello all,

I recently initiated a search for the Filson Sportsmen 266 (discontinued) and I have little to show for my efforts. Perhaps somebody in this thread could point me in the right direction?

On another note, does anyone have experience with the 48 hour bag? Seems quite nice but for some reason I imagine it's quite large...

Anyhow, awesome thread, have enjoyed browsing through the beautiful pictures and creative mods

Raise your hand if you rock a tote and you're proud.
