Not as big as the Seattle store, I'm sure, but if you find yourself traveling through Detroit, it's worth the trip! Right next door to Shinola's flagship Detroit sale.

On a separate note, I picked up a tablet briefcase which is so mis-named it's funny. Guys a MacBook Air 13" easily.

Whoa. Typo city. Sorry about that. "Fits" not "guys" and "store" not "sale".

The one review of that horseshoe set is hilariously fitting.

Never mind that it appears to be the exact same set as this one, which is less than half the price: https://www.amazon.com/St-Pierre-Presidential-Horseshoe-Set/dp/B0000ASN01/ref=sr_1_10

I recently purchased a Filson Briefcase 70256 in Tan. When the item arrived, I was surprised at how dark the color was. I was expecting almost a yellowish mustard brown/khaki color that you see in most photos.

Upon closer examination, I noticed that the hang tag and the inner tag both say "Dark Tan" instead of "Tan". I tried to search on Filson website, but it doesn't seem like the bag is offered in "dark tan" colorway. What am I dealing with here? Can anyone please help?

Here are the photos, the color of the bag is best portrayed in the picture with the Filson patch inside the storm flap. It's as if someone mixed tan and dark brown colors together. http://imgur.com/a/MGOa2

Hey all. Through a series of events, I find myself with a brand new, with tags, in the original plastic bag, Filson 24 hour bag in navy blue.

I'd be interested in trading it for a used (gently or heavily) or new original tan briefcase.

Anyone interested? This is a brand new bag. Just would rather avoid the whole eBay thing.

That's curious. I have the same bag and though the label says "Tan" and not "Dark Tan" it pretty much looks the same color as yours.

Filson Summer Sale on now:

Meridian Tote deeply discounted

Watches half off

Re:Summer Sale. Hmmmm...wonder if this means the Meridian tote and duffle are discontinued.

I wondered that myself - (about the Meridian).  I have the duffle and still consider it my favorite Filson bag although, undoubtedly, it's a bit different than their traditional line of bags.  (with the tin cloth, etc.)

That said, it makes the bag lighter which I love.  Fits in airline overheads like a glove and holds an Eagle Creek folder perfectly.

My old tan small duffle (talon zipper era):

Leather straps front and back:

Often passed by for bags with more capacity or organization. But what I like about the bag is that it doesn't look like I am going on a safari when I am just going to the gym or to the beach i.e. great casual look. And it's shape and size means I can carry it all day if need be. Sometimes, less is more.

I've always thought size of the zipper tote would make a great daily carry but was turned off by the long handles and lack of shoulder strap. After carrying the 257 for a few years I began to explore the tote again after needing more room. I finally pulled the trigger on the zipper tote and immediately regretted it. So instead of returning it I though I would try making it into the bag I wanted. I shortened the handles and added the shoulder strap and anchors from my small duffel. This is now the best Filson bag that I've owned. The size and weight are perfect for what I've been looking for.

Nice!

Itch177, very nicely done. I think there is a gap in the Filson lineup between the duffles, totes, briefcases, field bags for a larger shoulder bag/utility bag. Narrow enough to wear on the shoulder but wide enough for thicker items like dSLR, clothing etc. I use the Red Oxx Gator for this type of usage but it isnt as attractive as your custom bag.

Hey all-

I am debating on whether to purchase a Filson Tin Cloth backpack such as the one in the link

http://www.filson.com/tin-cloth-backpack.html?sku=70017341135&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=[PLA]%20Shopping%20-%20Brand&gclid=CPvq8LnF2s0CFQeraQodbNYK1A

One question that I have is regarding the tin cloth itself- Does the oil rub off on clothes? I am taking a trip and plan to wear regular clothes while wearing this backpack, but am concerned about the tin cloth leaving oil residue on my clothes. Anyone have any insight as to this possible issue?

Thanks
