Filson Bag Thread: With Pictures - Page 243

Filson runs all their stuff in batches. So if they're out of the handgrips, they won't get more until they make a whole bunch more. Same with all their other stuff as well.

BTW, Brooks Brothers 30% corporate day is March 20th, for those of you with corporate discounts. Best day of the year for buying Filson bags, hands down (except for one off sales here and there, if they ever run that 40% off discount again).

I just called their 0800 number and ordered one for around $17 and should get it next week via FedEx. This one is black to match the black tincloth, whihc also has black leather. Interestingly, I had to specifically request black (I'm glad I did because he was going to send me a dark brown one). Either way, it seemed they had both black and dark brown in stock and ready to ship. Weird that they told you June?

If anyone is interested in a navy medium travel at bag at 30% off (plus whatever it costs to ship it to you), let me know. I ended up ordering two of them after they sold out online during the Brooks Brothers 30% off corporate sale.

Should have gone with white contrast stitching.

I owned the Apolis black version (seems to be identical minus the badge) and it was a real lint magnet and didn't age as well as the otter/tan equivalents. More like a beaten canvas shopping tote.

I've had my 257 for 5 years now. I've cheated on it with a few other bags, but at the end it was always there for me. It's an amazing bag. Looks only slightly more weathered now.

Also, I'm always totally surprised by how roomy it gets when you ask it nicely. It basically seems to double in size when needed - like on those days when I have to stick an almost full 1.5" three-ring binder in a side pocket when the rest of the bag is already filled to capacity.

It was so HARD choosing a colour for Filson bags… ended up getting a few of them...

In case you're having a hard time deciding too, here's a link at a quick look of them under natural sunlight.

Thinking of purchasing a Filson Small Duffle Bag to be used as a Carry On on flights and as a "day pack". Anyone travelled with a this bag before? How was it? Or should I consider something else?

Day pack- okay. Carry on flights- too small for actual trip IMO.

Love the Natural Canvas but I know I will do some stupid thing and leave stains on very fast frown.gif

Will not be my main bag, I also have one checked in luggage.

Found some photos of this bag...is it just me or does this bag look huge? Not sure if it is too big and bulky to be used as a day pack...is it easy to carry?

The small isn't too huge at all, and keep in mind that if you don't pack it full, the bag really does become as small as whatever the contents that it's carrying.

If you're looking for something specifically for a carryon, I'd recommend the medium travel bag.  Similar to the duffle, but just a few more pockets for organization.
