An OG 232 breaking in nicely.

Has it experienced any rain yet, just wondering how water repellant the material is going to be ?

Guys,

I recently bought a Filson 257, it is beautiful.

My only whinge - the strap keeps sliding off my shoulder, especially when the bag is light.

Should I consider having the rough side of a piece of leather stitched to the pad, or will this fix itself as the bag wears in?

It will fix with wear, but some people help this along by by doing such things as:
  • Using a leather conditioner to soften the leather up
  • Roughing up the underside with sandpaper
  • Bending the pad over a chair back with some weight in the bag

I just condition and use.

The hand grip on the 257, is it stitched on to the strap? Or just held on by the snaps?

Thanks, that's what I figured. I guess I will try to find some leather place that can do that.
If someone could take a close up of how it is stitched on, it would be appreciated.

Check in the pictures in this thread. I am pretty sure I posted a picture of my 256 factory installed hand grip.

Mine came in about a week or two after I placed that order. You might want to call them and see what's going on. Maybe you got in really late on the deal and they haven't received enough to fulfill all those orders.

Mine took about three weeks. You should give them a call.

Does anyone have some well worn otter green briefcases they can post pictures of. I've seen quite a few tan ones but wanted to see some more otter green ones before I make an order for one.

Can post a few later this week, green faded to a brownish color for me

My duffle which is a lot older is still pretty green though, think LA sun is a lot more damaging

Hi, I wonder how long have you used your bag? I just got one yesterday and the strap after several hours using already has these similar cracks around the slots. Did you do anything to them? Any one has the same issue? Thanks!
