Also, I've read that the navy bags feel flimsier than the original colors. Can anyone shed light on this?

It looks brighter in the picture. I don't have Photoshop installed on this computer to correct the color. The color irl is more similar to the pictures in this post: http://www.styleforum.net/t/133759/filson-bag-thread-with-pictures/2370#post_6313836

As for it being flimsier than the original colors, I don't have any of the original colors to compare it, but if this is flimsier, then the originals must be bulletproof.

I have the navy 256, and it feels the same as the green travel bag I ordered at the same time. It now has been in use for just over a month, and is starting to soften up nicely.

This photo is reasonably accurate regarding the color - probably a little bit too much green in it, but fairly close.

anyone interested in trading a 'briefcase computer bag' for an 'original briefcase'?

i've got a new computer bag in brown, but realized it's a bit bigger than i'd prefer... open to pretty much any color for the trade and would do it at no extra cost (aside from both sides covering shipping) despite the $50 price difference.

any takers?

and i guess to clarify, that's trading my 257 for someone else's 256...

I usually take an extended trip in the Summer and bring a large wheeled duffle and a sportsman bag. I'm considering switching out the sportsman for a rucksack. I'm hoping to be hands free with the rucksack as opposed to having the sportsman on my shoulder and pulling the duffle. I would be using the rucksack for day trips and for short 3-4 night side trips. For anyone that has used the rucksack, does this seem like a reasonable plan?

Also, anyone know where the rucksack might be available on sale or below retail?

Salesperson at Filson flagship tempted me with waiting for Autumn when they will be releasing a new line of bags. Should be interesting to see what they have for the new line-up.

Thanks

I'm receiving a Filson bag as a graduation present to use in college, and I'm unsure of which size to go for: the 256 or 257. I'll be carrying a 15.6" laptop and its charger, most likely with at least 1 textbook and maybe a water bottle. I like the sleek size of the 256, but I'm unsure about if it's actually enough to carry everything. Anybody have some thoughts or advice to make the decision easier?

Get a 257. I just got a 256 and fitting a water bottle, my macbook, charger and a notebook is a squeeze. I would find it hard to fit more than one textbook.

Awesome, thanks for the heads up. I suppose it'd be better to have too much space than not enough.
