Where can I get one of these natural bags for cheap?
Unionmade is too pricey

Anybody find the red 257 too flimsy? Canvas feels like half the weight of my otter 257

Mine is in transit but that is disturbing if it is a different weight canvas

It's made from Filson's 18oz duck canvas, rather than their 22 oz oil-finish twill. Nothing to be disturbed about, it was pretty up front in the description that it was canvas rather than twill. It's only "flimsy" compared to the twill, which is a monster. It's also fairly water-resistant. Not to the same extent that oil-finish is, but I did put water on it, and it stayed beaded up without soaking in or anything after 5 minutes (which is the point of duck canvas).

Thanks.  Didn't notice the difference in materials when I ordered.  The Need Supply description says Twill but I'm OK with canvas.

Thanks for the info, just feels so light compared to what I was used to.

^thanks for the info about the canvas used in these bags compared to the heavier twill. (twill weirdly/wrongly sounds thinner in my mind).

this bag is definitely lighter compared to the original twill, but its still wicked robust compared to other canvas bags. its still has a lot of weight to it (I wish STP had a 256 of this).

if you want to compare to the regular twill 257 go to the first post in this thread.

The shoulder strap has a "pad" but its just a thin cut of the same leather used in the strap and trim not the padded thick leather of the regular twill 257. I personally didn't like the thick padded strap on the twill 257 (it was too bulky and not that comfortable).

even if its vibrantly red in color its still a very masculine bag. I'm still contemplating if I want to gift this bag or keep it for myself. I would take off the red filson tag from the front to keep it more simple for my personal use.

I've seen the blue filson red label tote and I bet it the blue 257 would be really handsome.

I would have bought that bag if STP had your pictures promoting it!

Thanks for the pics. I would take off the tag too.

I'm glad I got one after seeing his pictures

Mine came in earlier today as well and at $110 it was a steal. I really wish this was the smaller 256 as this one is a bit big for my needs.

I don't see a huge difference between the canvas and the standard twill. It's still very substantial and the difference in fabrics is negligible unless you're really looking for it.

I already see a few on Ebay but I'll wait at least a few months before selling it if I go that route unless the wife wants to keep it for herself.

But no otter green cloud.gif

Does anyone have this bag? I'm debating between this beauty and a 260 no-zipper tote.

Milw, these are the best photos I've found:

I received my 256 yesterday and noticed the brass key clasp was stitched in the INTERIOR pocket in the main zipper compartment...is this the new standard placement for this feature? I thought I had been mailed a defective product, but based off the red 256 pictures above, perhaps this is indeed the correct placement?
Seems illogical to me to have it inside the zipper compartment instead of inside the exterior front pocket.

Any help here? Thanks

Outside on my 257, also noticed that when I saw the pictures. Would rather have mine inside.
