What is your source of motivation/ inspiration? - Page 3

My source of motivation is knowing should i ever have to defend myself or my family, the other motherfucker(s) better be bigger, stronger and faster because I'm going out with all I got --- I'm not going out like a bitch ass Uppom. That, and a little bit of ego mixed in with vanity...of course.

I wanted to dig this out of the arhives. How do you stay motivated ? I'm on a cut right now, 16lbs down as of today but its hard as hell to keep going. Whoa

Exercise: I got lax with the gym this year, after two-plus years of religious gym-dwelling. When I'm in the swing of things, though, there are few things like tossing the iron around. I'm crunched for time these days, so I stick to the big boy basics like cleans, squats, chin-ups, etc. so I can be in and out of the gym quickly but still have productive sessions.

I've been out of high school for six years and I can say that at least half of the people I graduated with that have tracked me down on FB look noticeably worse.

A year and change has passed, but these both still apply. The only modification is that I fast for most of each day, which has made food control infinitely easier than my previous attempts at cuts, most of which were laughably executed. "Oh, I ate below maintenance for three days, it's time for junk food for the next four!"

I've also accepted that a leaner body comp is vital to making even your basic jeans/tee outfit stand out.

mostly my kids. I want my kids to feel proud of me, and I want to set a good exampole for them, and I want to be able to do physical things with my kids and my grandkids in the future.

I let myself go to hell for a decade or so, and it looks like it will take a full 4-5 years for me to get back on track, but slowly I am getting there, and I hope that I will hold my position for 20 years or more.

+1, right now thats one of my motivations. Also, about 6 yrs ago I was almost 300lbs. no muscle mass, went down to 200 in 07 and started lifting in 08 and will never be close to 300 ever again in life. Still lifting today, gained alot of muscle but not lean. ;/ I'm currently 222 as of today My goal now is to float between 190 - 195.

How is the slight fast affecting your metabolism ?

to be honest with you, i get motivation whenever someone comments favorably on how i look.

also, whenever i turn a page and see an ad where some guy (or girl) shows lean ripped up abs, lean thighs, and hip bones galore, that revs me up as well.

hey

Money and pu$$y....

plus i like expensive things for no particular reason and collect them.once collected i store them in a home away from my own to avoid others touching them.that goes well with my selfish persona.Plus the fact that i deserve far better things then most people just because!

Congrats. I'm a former fat boy myself (210 at 14 without the excuse of height to explain the weight), so I know it takes effort. I started lifting seriously (i.e. free weights and complex movements) four years ago, but was caught up in the bulking mindset too much to realize I was just getting fat again.

Spent most of this year refining how I eat, since lifting many times a week has only been an issue once in the last four years (and by "once," I mean like, most of 2009). It's been an up and down sort of thing, but I've really zoned in thanks to the fasting.

I can't really say how it's affected my metabolism, since it's only been four weeks. I do know that eating genuinely clean for this long has never been possible for me. I can probably count the junk food excursions during this time on both hands with fingers left over. I'm too focused getting my desired protein + calories during my eight-hour window of non-fasting each day to really waste any of it food that doesn't help the cause.

FWIW, I've dropped an inch around the love handles in the four weeks of IF. It's not water weight, either, since I was already maintaining a diet fairly low in starchy carbs.
