I always found the most efficient way to eat for mass and performance while leaning was aim for 1g protein per bodyweight and keep your kcal about 200-500 below maintenance. Assuming you don't rely completely on powders, when you are going for 1g/bodyweight and keeping those cals under control you are inevitably going to be forced to eat correctly and get decent ratios... albeit not a perfect ratio but still good enough.

Are you by chance under 20 years old?

I can get behind this statement as it pertains to steroid users and young kids whose hormonal profiles resemble steroid users... but here in my late 20s things don't work that way anymore^^
