Used excel 2008 on a mac for freshman biology. 

 

If you are going to need to do any statistical analysis you DO NOT want the mac version.

 

Apparently microsoft decided to sell mac excel, but a barebones version that didn't include some advanced function packages that are necessary in a lot of quantitative fields.

 

This caused me a lot of grief.
