Nay. It is a mongrel - the whole-cut style lacing area is oddly interrupted by a set of quarters that look like they come from a blucher.

The positioning of the lake and the toe make me think of Santoni - are these Italian?

Duveen, I agree that they do have a "Frakenstein" quality about them. They are Italian, Sutor Mantellassi for Ferre.

it's tempting with the "retail" price of 1375, but i think that even with the recent price cut (i don't know how long you've been watching it, but it was recently cut from 299 to 269 or so) it's not worth it. i figure if all the 8.5's in the world hold out on it for long enough, it'll be around for us to nab at super-low pricing soon enough.

the brown suede one that's currently at 339 is nicer, i think.

It's interesting, but what really makes this a "nay" for me is that the side detailing makes it look like a blucher that was altered to make it into a bal. Very odd.

I personally much prefer Mantellassi style to Santoni's. These are my favorite pair of Mantellassis so far this year. They're also my wife's favorites by far (strangely enough, my JLs and EGs don't do much for her...)
