Paul Smith London Suit (Yes, another PS thread...)

Hello Gents,

I apologize in advance for another Paul Smith thread. However, I haven't found enough information on the forums/internet regarding the Paul Smith London (Travel) suits.

I fell in LOVE with the Travel Suit (from the London line, Byard) in Navy, size 36R. It is from the Autumn/Winter Collection 09, and I tried it on at the Soho store in NYC.

The suit costs $1,500 and I feel it is a stretch for my budget. I could do it, but I feel its too much for a half-canvassed suit, though it fits impeccably well. So, I also visited the Outlet store in Brooklyn. Unfortunately, they only had a 36S and 38R, though for half prices ($990, and $695 respectively).

Now to my question: I can't wait until the suit I love goes on sale (impatient, and will start work soon), and I am trying to find a way to purchase one for under $1000. Are there ANY avenues besides ebay (which is littered with fakes) or flying to the UK for the Outlets (which I am willing to do)?

Here is the specific information on the suit:
Paul Smith London
Travel Suit, Byard
Navy, in 36R
Tag: PAUL/9337/J06

Thank you for your help. I really would appreciate ANY leads...

You're willing to afford a trip to England to save a little but not to pay retail? That trip to London will more than wipe out your savings.

You love it? It fits well... buy it.

If you really like it, then I suppose you should get it. That said, I would not pay $1500 for a half canvased suit. What about the fit do you like so much? You can't replicate that in another way? Is there something special about it that a good tailor couldn't achieve?

Do you really lie Paul Smith that much? I have one and it isn't superbly made and that is the euphemism of the week..

This is bizarre - I was looking at the same suit recently (it is gorgeous) and I went online and saw it was reduced to $803. I just checked and it is still listed on the Paul Smith website at $803 for a 36R. Are we talking about the same suit here?

I'm totally positive my tailor could replicate it (He is SF approved!). But, he starts at $1000, and I'm sure if I add the details it'll hit close to $1300~1500... I guess you could say it has something special...it has small details unique to Paul Smith suits. The inner lining, buttons, stitch work, overall balance, etc. It really is nice.

Yea, I saw that as well but it is in black, and not available in my size (36R). If it were the exact suit, I would have bought it in a heartbeat

Glad I'm not the only one who's fallen, haha. Also, it has peak lapels (one I want has notch) and is from the Spring/Summer collection. Same structure and fit though.

They've got the navy one listed in 36R on the PS US site for $803 right now.
But yeah it does have peak lapels.

Link please? I just checked out the site again...I don't see any Byard suits in solid navy, let alone in 36R

FWIW PS London suits can go cheaper than $990. I've seen it go down to $700 in the not too distant past.

I'm sure if you telephoned one of the Paul Smith stores in London, their (from my experience) fantastic customer service would be able to ship one out to you...

You could also try the Paul Smith sale shop on Avery Row in London. They have quite a large selection on offer at the moment. Unfortunately - they're probably the rudest shop assistants I've ever come across (I'd agree that in the main - PS customer service is great).
