I have a feeling that District 9 is going to be a good movie. I have been reading about this film and it seems to have a documentary feel to it. I just hope it does not suck like Cloverfield.

anyone planning on seeing this movie?

edit: the movie was based on this short film

I think it's going to be okay or it's going to suck. Hopefully they'll prove me wrong.

It has the ingredients to be really good.

The reviews have been few but positive so far. I'm always a little cautious with Peter Jackson, but it's looking promising.

I thought it looked retarded when I first saw the ad.... but I've yet to see a single negative review (hell, even a mediocre review) for it, so I'll probably go see it.

By the way, it has a 100 on rottentomatoes.

I thought it looked retarted as well, when first seeing the previews

but now I'm intrigued

I thought Cloverfield was great, hoping this will be nearly as good

I've been excited about it since the first previews.

+1 It looks like it's going to be really, really good. Though if it's not great, I suspect it's going to crash and burn. It doesn't strike me as the type of movie that will just be so-so.

I guess you are right... Cloverfield didn't suck. I just had a hard time watching the movie with the camera bouncing all over the place, etc... Made me have motion sickness or something.

It only has 13 reviews so far though. The Godfather has 100 and it has 100+ reviews. Big difference.

It should have a lot more once it goes into full release

From the trailers and what very little I've read about it, I foresee this being a sci-fi flick with disguised hollywood liberal undertones of diversity, inclusion and anti-prejudice. To the kids it will just be a summer blockbuster, but to anyone a few credits shorts of a liberal arts degree it will be a "powerful and critical" self-reflection of how we treat those who are different. The sole intention of which will be to have every person leave the theatre thinking, "wow, I never thought about it before, but those aliens are just like (insert generic minority\\under privileged\\under represented group title here)"
