Meat Grinder

Anyone grinder their own meats to make fresh, lean homemade meatballs and sausages? No juvenile jokes, please.

Are there any good, reliable grinders under $100 out there that you could recommend?

I have, and it is very good, but not much better than you will find at a good local butcher. These work, and are cheap but kind of a pain in the ass. These are better, if you already have a Kitchen Aid. Stand alone electrics start just over $100, and should be fine as well.

OK, I knowed you asked politely, but I have almost never seen a thread set up better to maximize the likelihood that it will degenerate into juvenile joking.

Sorry, I had to point that out.

Thanks Matt - I was looking earlier at one of those Cabelas. It reminds me of what my grandma used to use.

Good point gnatty - I just was hoping to keep this thread from going DT too quickly.

No way can you find a good grinder for under 100. You are going to need 2 hp at least.

I love my meat grinder. Oddly, I typically use it to get fattier than normal meat. Store-bought ground pork and ground veal tend to be too lean for things like pate. It's just a shitty hand-cranker from one of those big-box outdoor world places where they sell that shit for hunters making deer bologna.

Well, the Cabela's model has all the horse power you can muster! I've relied on one of those for years for Chopped Liver, but I don't know about grinding Bison with it.

Which Cabelas did you get? I was interested in those a few years ago but forgot about it.
