Who makes seven fold ties? - Page 2

I have Kiton and Barba and they are both too long for me, longer than my other ties. As a result, I don't like them as much as my other ties...

All the better to wrap a few more times and make the big honking knot that the Italians like so much.

Good job, J. That check is in the mail.

As of late, I've been triple wrapping myself.

I noticed that my barbas are extraordinarily long as well.

Bulgari and Chanel also make them. Also Rochefort at www.rochefort.com.au

RJ, how much are they charging for the 7 fold Marinellas in Paris? The bespoke 7 folds cost Euro 130.... CF ties are priced at $165.

T4, in the US regular Marinellas sell at almost 160 dollars before sales tax. I believe in Paris Monsieur magazine mentioned they are around 140 to 150 euros, for the normal line. The only place in Paris AFAIK they are sold is at the George V gift shop, which is a bit too rich for my blood. The selection is rather small. I do not know if 7-folds are sold there. You do not need to rub in how cheaply [sic] you can obtain Marinellas at the source -- although I'm wearing a Marinella I got for 1 pound, new. When are we going to Seraphin?

PS: While Marinella's tie keeper is excellent, their ties do not appear to be cut on the bias and their patterns -- identical to some Holliday & Brown offerings -- are almost uniformly staid. I must admit I prefer a maker with more versatility and with silk cut on the bias.

Yes, I generally don't like Marinella's printed RTW. Regarding the bias cut, if I remember correctly, all but one of my bespoke are cut on the bias.

Add me to the list of Carlo Franco fans. The finest ties I have ever seen at any price.

While some of the printed silks are not to my taste, I like the fact that Marinella offers a collection that is quite retro in taste without being fashion forward in the least. As that is my taste, I find many in the collection that I like.

On the less prestigious end of this market, Tyrrwhit carries 7-folds that are stiff and heartless compared to FIH's, at half the price. Rumor is Target has an example. Or, make your own!

I, too, am a huge fan of the Bvlgari 7-folds. The Kitons and Borrellis are quite nice too.

Tino Cosma makes a true seven fold (and eight-ply silks that are quite nice as welll). Testoni also makes a true seven. The Bulgari/Kitons that I have are, I believe, double fours.
