But I could see it being within the realm of possibility that the the OP picked out the Opus and struck up a conversation with the shopkeep, who decided to bring out the good stuff for him.
Really, unless you have incredibly bad luck, and some off-duty customs agent comes into your shop, no one really cares about the Cuban thing. I know quite a few police officers, military, politicians, etc. who smoke Cubans occasionally or regularly.
