what did you wear to your last job interview

i am looking for a little guidance, and just about every single interview related thread is in MC and i don't need the 'special flower' label SW and D would attach to me.

i am applying for a grocery/retail position at a local grocery chain. it is employee owned and while i am not applying for a position, any position... i'd like to appear as competent and able as I know I am to move up and work in management etc.

any opinions as to what i should wear, or what you would wear in my position would be appreciated

Medium Grey 2-button suit, White shirt, Red striped tie, Black cap-toes, white cotton pocket square. I think it looked ok, but I kinda felt like pee-wee herman. It was probably the medium grey suit and red tie.

You might want to try a blue blazer and khaki chino approach. Dressy enough to show you mean business, but casual enough not to put anyone off. Just my opinion, though.

This approach makes sense to me. A blazer with chinos should be fine, given the type of job and the industry.

I wore white Cousys, khaki Incos, and a blue MJK buttondown. It was at Walmart though.

I made a thread like this "interview for a smalltimer" for a pizza place. I'm gonna wear medium brown captoes, khakis, and a white oxford cloth spread collar shirt. Might wear a navy blazer if I can find a cheap one.

Unless it's a really nice pizza place, I'd forgo the blazer. I dunno where you live, but here in the Midwest they're liable to think you're one of them gheys or something...

This is more than adequate for interviewing for a position that isn't in an office environment.

agreed. i thought it was just fine for me considering i'm 18 and it i was interviewing for a job in the photo lab at sams. if only i could afford a nice navy suit and some killer brown C&Js...but alas, i'll have to wait until after school for that haha.

This. A good mix of 'casual' and 'formal'. A suit is not appropriate for every occasion. Though to answer the original question, my last job interview was before a professional company, and I wore a black pinstripe suit. Single breast, 3 button.

I'm wondering what to wear for my next interview. It's in a tech department of a research firm on M street in DC as an intern.

FWIW: When I had an interview with the Libertarian Party I wore grey slacks navy blazer black square shoes and a navy tie with circles and a french cuff stripped dress shirt.

I'm thinking of something similar except with charcoal pants for my next one.
