The waist will stretch back to raw measurements, after prolonged wear... Which takes a decent time, due to the nature of the tight weave. But the thigh is a bitch to stretch. I'd rather not have to go stretching out denim after every wash.

I agree - go TTS, you'll be very uncomfortable if you size down!!!smile.gif

Got a new pair of Momotaro 0702. Bought them TTS. Waist fits ok. Thighs are nearly bursting them. Very tight in the crotch area. They might be ball breakers, maybe thats because the denim is still so hard. Hoping for a litle bit of stretch after breaking them in.

@IIIrd Icon I handwash new denim once, to shrink them and to get out the starch. I remember reading that you hot soak your new jeans twice. What’s the reason for this?

Sounds like you should exchange them for the next size..

Momotaro denim is very tightly woven and doesn't stretch much, like Pbjs do...smile.gif

Hot soaking gets all the shrinkage out - but you might not get them on again!!!smile.gif

^actually, I do a 3rd soak after a few days wear, as well.

i hate schlepping around with a ton of fabric bunched up in the ankles like leg weights. I try to get most shrinkage out of the way w/o having to wash, so I can have em hemmed up to appropriate length.

Btw, on the 702s, u should've sized up. Dont invest too much faith on "fully/partially sanforized" not shrinking cuz they're still 100% cotton ... maybe not as much as unsanforized, but still ....

IMO, always size to keep ... Not for [initial] fit ... unless ur planning on NOT washing them at all or maybe sell/swap them out with something else once ur done w/ them , like what some peeps do

for how long do you need to soak raw jeans before wearing?

If they are sanforised, they don't need soaking

Unsanforised - I don't know!!!smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif

An hour or so, no big deal.

Also re: guy on the last page - you'll be forever uncomfortable with those thighs and crotch. They won't stretch out any considerable amount if you're looking for comfort. Exchange them.

Just contacted Kevin From Blue Owl about an exchange. Considering sizing up from 30 to 31 in the 702 or getting a pair of 202 in 30.
Anybody here who has both models and can comment on this?
