Yes! Petrified. I've only done cold soaks and a cold wash. Inseam shrinkage has been nice and moderate thus far. Not brave enough to hot wash them - I think the inseam would come up another inch at least.
Mine are coming along pretty well. Pix soon, I hope.
Mine are 6 months old or so now. I'm amazed at how little fading and signs of wear there are. They're tough beasts.

Whatever suits you. If you can get away with a soak, then I'd definitly recommend it, because they'll soften up a LOT. If you can't, it's best to soak as soon as you are able to. Shrinkage isn't very much. It took me 2-3 soaks (cold ones) to get most of the starch out and properly soften them up.

Mine are 2 months, 1 'soap soak' and they've got visible crotch whiskers, knee and lap fades, and general sit wear. Everything's still dark, though, and I've been wearing my older, broken in pair of Nudies a lot recently, since thermals fit better underneath those.

Edit: Saw your pair in WAYWT, mlyngard, fit looks great. Is that post-taper?

Interesting, I've been noticing these are some of my faster-fading jeans (based on the month or so of 3-4 times/week wear. My hands are still slightly blue when washing them after a day in the jeans. Very visible pocket and lap whiskers already.

Yeah, I did a post-soak taper from 8" to 7.5, which for me (at 5-8"), brings the proportions to what I like. These were my first foray into tapering on the selvage seam, and I like (not love) the results. I cuff, so the now 1.5" selvage band is a little wide for my taste, but it's a small issue. Next time will be tapering then hemming before soak. Original stitch holes are still a little visible...

Oh, also, machine washed and dried these and the results were that they softeened very nicely and there was very little additional shrink from the dryer. This is some tight weave denim.

Thinking of using these 31w as weekend/bad weather thrashers now, and probably getting a pair the next size up (32s, which will shrink to 31), for a 'nicer' pair. These have seen as much stretch as I'm thinking they'll get, and they're still nicely snug. Problem is that thicker shirts like flannels get all hitched up when I tuck-in.

There's no question that these are my top favorites now, and a second pair in rotation is a must ;-) Now just waiting for restock...

myln (or anyone I suppose) - ended up with the 30's.. Was horrible to button the first time, but I can do it without trouble now (love the jeans by the way -- good advice). Probably coulda gone for 31's, but 30 will work I think.

Problem is, I'm afraid of any shrinkage in the top box (because of the already tight fit). Does soaking result in any color or texture difference? I'm considering soaking only the legs, or submerging the entire jean then quickly pulling out the top box while leaving the rest submerged. Appreciate any advice

If you can just button the top button when they're new, they should fit really well (so long as you're chasing a slimmer fit) within a couple weeks. Just give the denim a bit of a workout.

As for soaking, I cold soaked mine to minimise shrinkage for ~30min. You can leave the top box out of the tub if you want to... Though I view the first soak as fairly important just because it gets the stiffness out of the denim.

Unfortunately the hems will come up a bit during the soak. A good inch on a cold soak.

Yikes, okay, two cases in point for why soaking in advance before wear is a must. These will shrink an inch in the waist and 1-2 inches in length. Alec - glad you love 'em. But to be blunt, I think yer fucked. Had the identical situation and Arms Akimbo is now the proud owner of my sorry mistake. Those will shrink an inch in the waist and will only be more torture. Sell now and size up. Momos are out of stock at the moment, so now is a good time to sell. BiG is getting more in a few weeks. Trust me brother. It's never good to tip-toe around with trying to soak parts and not others. There's no control over the results, plus, do you want to be afraid of the rain? (I'm serious...) Jimmy - suggest lukewarm to hot water from the tub spigot. It takes care of shrinkage in any 'real world' wash situation, and then you can relax and just wear them, knowing they're primed. No color change, some (very, very nice) texture change, and a slight shrink all around. You shuld have soaked prior to hemming, since these can loose 1"-2" in the inseam, in my experience and according to Gordon at BiG. Yeah, and that's even with a lukewarm soak. Don't pansy around with cold only like Doc ;-) PS - you may have to sell too with that ineam length... These are the least stretchy jeans I've ever owned. So if they're tight now, don't expect your ass to be saved. Expect maybe under an inch from normal wear. If you guys do soak and want to recover that waist back without pain, invest in this at yer hardware store. (Damn, knew I shoulda fronted for that infomercial...): http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=151033

Seems like I'm the only one willing to grit my teeth and push through the extreme tightness of the Momo's. Yes, they are the least stretchy jeans in the entire world, but I did it. Whether you want to do it or size up is your choice I guess. Like I say - it's a bit of hard work and abuse. And yes, I'm a bit afraid of the rain... Heheh....

Damn -- awesome idea with the compression clamp... Definitely will try (and, obviously go Doctor's route and tough it out). I can wear them with enough comfort now that I think I'm a month or two away from a comfortable fit. Also going for a more of a skinner fit, hopefully without tapering, so the size down might help with that. Thanks again for the help, will update post-soak (hopefully with good news)

If you wash them in hot water, then yes, they will shrink more.

Are yo referring to the Nudies staining your tub? The Momo's won't do that. At least in my experience.
