Pretty in Pink, I just love the cast in it. It's got Harry Dean Stanton!

And James Spader is such an asshole in it. Love the dude. "Money really means nothing to me. Do you think I'd treat my parents' house this way if it did? "

I always assumed that Uncle Buck had to be terrible, and never saw it. Now it's getting all kinds of praise, and not just here.

Is this an in-joke, or is it really a good movie?

why in john hughes and john hughes type movies, even in back to school i guess, are the rich kids automatically tough while poor kids are pussies? if anything, you should be more afraid of the poor who have nothing to lose.

Wasn't Judd Nelson's character in the breakfast club poor/lower class?

I think it's more about the geek/nerd social outcast versus the popular kids, then necessarily rich/poor.

Do you have a particular John Hughes example?

I just realized that Home Alone is the only John Hughes movie I've ever seen more than ten minutes of.

I don't think I've seen some kind of wonderful and the last time I saw pretty in pink was sometime in the 80s, maybe someone else can comment. But I'll assume your right .
