I'm white, but I am part black so my hair is ****ed up.

I have a unique texture to my hair. It's curly, but not too curly and extremely thick. I can't really grow a jew fro. I've tried lol. I don't know what to do. I want to do something different though. Something that can make my unique hair stand out even more. A friend of mine said he thinks I could pull off the faux hawk look. Here's a goofy ass pic of me a few months ago with my hair the longest I've ever had it:

I was wondering if it would be possible to pull this off?:

Thanks for the help.

If that's as long as you've ever had it, then you haven't given it a chance to grow in a Jew fro. The curls aren't tight enough to pull off the look you're going for, and your face isn't narrow enough for it either.

Keep it short and tight.

It doesn't look that unique to me. You have curly hair, big whoop. Get a fuckin' John Oates hairstyle and be done with it. Surely he was "white but part black," wtftm.

My hair is like yours, in fact I'm mixed as well. Use lots of pomade like Brylcreem (something heavy enough not stuff made for white people) to keep it nice and hydrated and keep it the length you have it. It only looks goofy because it's dry. Look around in the black hair care section at the grocery store and try different things. Also, don't wash your hair too much, that just dries it out more.

That is good advice if he is in fact mixed. Otherwise it will look tragically out of place. "I'm white, but I'm part black" is a pretty confusing way of saying mixed, biracial, or multiracial, so I was left wondering wtf. The picture confirmed the bad hair, but didn't clarify above, thx to da goofy grin.

I vote for hydrating it AND growing it into the John Oates. Dope as fuck.

The hair doesn't look bad IMO, it just needs to be styled or shaped better.

I've heard a few girls say they like my hair. I think they're referring more to the curls and the texture in general...not the actual shape of the hairstyle. A couple guys I work with make fun of me cuz I go to a saloon to get my hair cut and I should "go to a real barber who knows how to cut men's hair". The thing is, I dunno wtf to really do with my hair. It's messed up.
