How do you build a resume without any work experience? - Page 2

there is a student at my school, he gave a resume workshop.

he is one of only 2 full-scholarship students in our class.

he is an incredible d-bag.

at the workshop, he showed a bullet on his resume, it went something like this (stuff changed to protect this dbag):

Quote:
XXXX School of Public Policy, College of William & Mary 2008
Strategic Developer
- Designed and created new strategic initiative for College.
- Consulted for Faculty in new financial proposal.
- Assessed development plan for corporate sponsorship

now, what the fuck is this, you might wonder. Is it a job? Was he a professor? is it an MBA? Is it an accelerated masters degree?

No, it is a single night class he took, continuing ed. everything listed were just assignments from class.

that's what your competition is doing.

That's why you put dates on your resume. On the subject, what do you think of 2 page resumes? Via email I think there's no reason not to send them.

Well, that's the sort of thing that can get him into serious trouble in an interview. That's pushing the line to the point where its an outright lie. I wouldn't be comfortable putting any claim on a resume that I wouldn't be willing to defend in person.

This is an interesting thing. Up here in Canada, a resume is 2 pages. I could not imagine jamming relevant education and work and other extra-curriculars and accolades on one page.
