This one's for you Manty. Main library re-opened after a 3 year, $109 million renovation. Took some pics today. Grand reading room Kewl view of South Campus/Downtown East facade

The first and fourth pic remind me of the Rem Koolhaas designed central library in Seattle but the rest of the pics are not nearly as BladeRunner.

Me too. I got a warm fuzzy feeling when I walked inside. They have all of my favorite liberal magazines in the circulating section. Can't wait to practically live there

I visited Santa Clara's new library this past weekend. Interesting robotic recovery system for the books. Books are all stored in steel bins and the bins are in a room the size (length, width, height) of a couple good-sized basketball gyms. Looked like Indiana Jones x the Matrix. Really neat. Its purpose is supposed to be the freeing up of more space for study areas. I'd miss being able to browse the stacks though.
