I actually have a pair of the Varvatos/Converse and they are constructed and padded differently. They are a lot more comfortable and cushy than my regular converse.

I do too (an olive canvas low Chuck model rom a few years ago), and they are a little more comfortable, but still not worth the designer premium imo.

When I was in Paris a few weeks ago, my friend has these.

She has the 'Volley's in green. They are awesome. About 85 euros in Paris.

I want some. I take it they're unavailable outside of France?

There is a store listed in Los Angeles which sells them. Check under 'points de vente.' They are listed in there.

ah, yes, cool. Hmm, Montreal too... where are you, Fuuma? I like the hightops.

Those Stan Smiths are hot. I mean, they're not warm weather kicks, yeah? They are nice, though. Nice and expensive! Yes?

I've been thinking of getting some Converse lo-tops in natural white. Seems like they'd be good with jeans, khakis or even with some white linen pants. Thoughts? (I'm normally a fan of black.)

Personally, I believe what sneakers you choose should compliment your chosen style of dress. Chucks seem to transcend the boundaries of ALL styles which is great, especially because they are so cheap.

Good idea. Perfect for spring/summer. The natural white are $24 in Modell's Sporting Goods in Philly. I love the off-white color rather than the blinding bleached-out white that fatigues the eyes resulting in multi-colored low-top after-images floating around everywhere-you-look. The perfect shoe for jeans? Probably.

And if you wear 'em with those canes, you get a nice blue ring!

couple questions, I too am looking for a new spring sneaker and had some interest in the purcells. I usually just wear my all white vans-slipons.

Anyway, purcells dont really have any traction on the sole or anything do they? also, how do they fit compared to chucks, i wear like a 7.5 vans slip0n, 6.5-7 chuck taylor

anyone have any pictures of some beatup purcells?

I'd like to jump in on this topic. I'm looking for some sneakers and wondering what you guys suggest in a "sleek" style. Right now i mostly wear Vans big ol skate shoes like these in white http://tinyurl.com/lq4wp
I like em fine, except I need something a bit more sleek to fit under my skinner straight leg jeans.

I'd almost consider something like a puma speedcat or an Asic Tiger. I can almost like the speedcats except they're played out and as a driving enthusiast... the faux driving shoe is just too poseur for me . The tigers are interesting, but they have been associated with a girls shoe in my mind and I can't shake it (expecially since our cheerleaders would wear them in the school colors).

Man, big skate shoes are incredibly ugly. Get some Chucks.
