If you could have just one dark brown pair (in addition to shoes in other colors), which would it be?

Is there a quintessential style for dark brown? Do you just have favorite pair?

Pics or links appreciated but not necessary. Thanks.

Don't own it, but for me it's a punch cap oxford. From the Vass thread:

+1 on the punch cap. Mine are BB Peal (C&J 240 last). rebel222 has the same pair and posted pics in the shoe pr0n thread a while ago. They get a lot of wear.

I have not met mine yet, probably will have to go bespoke to get the blackest of brown [or the right patina] possible. One formal and one casual as far as styling, probably. Will remember to post once I have some.

While my favorite are my G&G wholecut chelseas with an antique brown finish, I'm not sure if they are as versatile as my 2-eyelet JM Weston derbies, also in an antique brown. But seeing neither is suitable for the more formal occasions, they are probably, on balance, equally versatile. As far as brown, either or both are what I would want.

The JL Vales in dark brown museum calf would be another good choice.

My favourite pair... Vass U-last plain budapest-oxford (austerity brouge) in dark brown. Fantastic!

Hmmm, on second glance, I just noticed the punching along the toe cap on those Vass Adelaides could've been more centered between the 2 rows of stitching...
