Canada Goose - Page 5

I have a parka from CG, and let me say it is the warmest thing on the planet. I had to size down though.

There seems to be a lot of people wearing CG this year.

You might have to down 2 size to look like that. The actual jacket is like a armor, supposedly to protect you if you are in Antartica, way too warm even in the NYC Jan weather.

You should try the Japanese line. I'm a baggy Small in the regular line but a Medium fits me snug in the Japanese line.

The CG Manitoba (personal fav) and the Calgary jacket are both slim and look good. Also the CG patches on these ones are all black and aren't as much of an eyesore as the red/blue ones on the mainline.

Any idea what Japanese store is best for Canada Goose? Looking for Calgary in Navy.

There are 3 stores in Toronto that I know of that carry pieces from the Japenese line. I'm actually going to be scouring the city over the weekend looking for a CG jacket myself. If I run into a Calgary in navy, I'll pm you the store/price.

Ahh thanks so much, really appreciate it! Montreal is going to kill me.

+1 Got the Manitoba in black. Great looking jacket that's perfect for East Coast winters...

Holt Renfrew and Sporting Life in Toronto both carry/carried the Japanese line. Try checking with those spots. I know SL did have them online, not sure if they still do.

Yeah everyone at my university seems to have one... and they're all wearing them around indoors in the library when they get up to get a coffee or something. It hasn't dipped below -5 C yet during the daytime, maybe a bit lower with the windchill. The ignorance of practicality is just abhorrent. I think guys like them because the way they're cut (the expedition is the only one I see) they make your torso look huge, but that stupid coyote fur (which has NO use in weather this mild) and that gaudy patch just screams douchebag. The girls all bought theirs because their friends did.

I saw some CG on the mountain today while skiing.

I went and tried on a CG expedition parka at my local Nordstrom. They are just massive coats. And super super warm. I live in Boston and I honestly can't imagine wearing the coat around the city unless it was one of the colder days we get here. For the winter weather here, I'd say it's pretty much overkill unless you want a parka for those dozen or so winter days below 0 degrees F (or you find yourself outdoors a ton in the colder days). Yes, you could wear it more often with a lot less underneath, but I usually rock a sweater or something of that sort underneath my coat if I'm going anywhere in the winter. Plus it just straight up looks big (the expedition) on the person wearing it. My GF said "you look like you're going to Antartica." Exactly. No question the coat itself is super nice quality, but overkill imo unless you live in a very cold weather area. Also not really a fan of those big front pockets, and there is no place to put your hands a la side pockets. I do like their "Chateau" model, however I can't find one to try on around here. I prefer real fur vs. synthetic around the hood, but if you are wearing that hood up, it better be cold outside otherwise you'll really feel the heat brought on by the real fur.

your holt's doesn't have the Japanese designed stuff?

Personally I hate the brand and their image. It's all douchey, i.e what Ed Hardy kids wear over their graphic tees when it's too cold out. The only CG I'd wear is the Manitoba, after ripping off the patch on the arm.

I've got the Calgary, and it's amazingly warm. I'm in Toronto, and there have been a few very windy days where it's been disgustingly, bitter cold. The type of day where you can't have any exposed skin. I can wear this coat and just a t-shirt, it's that warm. (A non Ed Hardy shirt, mind you.)

The only way I'd buy one of the non-Japanese ones is if I was doing outdoor work for extended periods of time (Mountain explorer, film set, etc.)
