Have you reported child abuse/neglect?

Has anyone ever reported child abuse or neglect here? I have a situation where I think I need to. If I do some people will know it was me and that scares me. Should I make a list of the things they have done and are doing? Should I mention how they have had dogs killed my incomptence? I just found out the kids have dog and cat poop and urine on their bedroom floors and in their beds. I have a lo more than just that example. Please tell me I am doing the right thing here. I need the courage to call even though people will be mad at me. Thanks for helping me.

Definitely go for it. Seriously! Who cares if they know (unless you're seriously in danger). The children need to be protected.

I agree. I found the number to call and am going to call from work where I can have some privacy.

I've seen some pretty fucked up shit. Kids are innocent. Give the kid a chance to have a decent life. It wasn't the kid's choice to be in whatever situation this is.

Yes, ive called many times but in my position I am a mandated reporter. Definately make the call. You're advocating for a child who can't do so for themselves. I don't know where you are located but try and follow up on your initial call. Don't assume that your calling it in will make the situation any better. I've had to threaten a lawsuit in terrible situations where CYS would just not go out to investigate. As is, unless there is clear evidence of neglect or abuse, nothing will happen.

I did one time in on vacation. Some little boy and a woman go on the elevator with me and the kid was crying and started taking about the woman rubbing his "hard cock." After we got off, I looped around the lobby, got back on, went to my room and called the police and gave them what I was pretty sure was their room number then went out to dinner.

When I got back the cops were leaving their room and I told them I was the guy who made the call in. Apparently the kid was mentally disabled and just had a freak out. I feel bad for that woman though. That has to be humiliating.

Put a spy cam in your car, or around it. People these days always bring cars into revenge.

Definitely do it. If you live in a crowded neighbourhood that can't prove it was you.
And if you don't make the call it will eat you up.

Really hope you do report it.

I can let a lot of things slide, but not this one.

You have to...a kid in that kind of situation probably doesn't even know its aweful..been living that way their whole life...I'm also a mandated reporter and get frustrated because in my school we have to go through so much in house beurocratic bullshit that these things get lost sometimes, I always call as a "private citizen" if I need to...one of the perks of NYC 311 set up.
