As I live in the Netherlands. Indonesian food over here is like what curry is in the UK, the most popular ethnic cuisine. As Indonesia was once part of the Dutch colonies you can find alot of them here and along they brought their food.
Basic Indonesian food consists of brown fried rice with several side dishes such as: roast chicken, Satay (roast meat filets on a stick), spicy veggies, fried banana and a hot condiment, for example.
My favourite has to be the 'Nasi Goreng' as can be seen here:

Alongside some chicken and fried egg slices.

These are the delicious fried banana slices, looks strange but it's fingerlickin good.

Indonesian spring roll filled with chicken called Lumpia

Satay with spicy peanut sauce.
If you'd ever notice a Malay/Indonesian restaurant I wouldn't hesistate and step in and check these posted above out. You won't be dissapointed.

The food looks very interesting though, and I have never been to an Indonesian/Malay place before. Any good ones in NYC anyone knows of?
