I still dream about their stuff.

It's nice to see they have a line of men's coats now.

I actually would be really interested in something like that. Have been buying a bunch of books on Japanese textiles, Navajo weavings, and American quilts. I've also been interested in learning more about other textile dyeing and printing techniques. The stuff @Tirailleur1 uses for his ties is really nice. If someone knows of good books on Nigerian or African fabrics, LMK.

As a guy who skews CM, I think the Unfunded Liabilities thread is the wrong idea - you don't want a monolithic thread for the breadth of textiles suitable for SWD. I think it would be more useful for Japanese textiles and Navajo, etc to have their own threads, even if they are more likely to drop down the list of recent threads.

I literally still haven't come to terms with the fact that Hirsh is a real person

Do you mean loose top block with tapered leg opening? Uniqlo just released a cut like that in their Pure Blue Japan line (which apparently has nothing to do with the Pure Blue Japan company, as unlikely as that sounds).

That stuff is cool, but I have plenty of performance gear.  I am looking for something with better design, like Acronym, but that is perhaps more performance oriented.  I would also settle for something that is more outdoorsy looking, but is still city friendly.  I want to be able to scale Denali (well, or maybe just backpack somewhere less cold - ime, once you hit those high peaks, your favorite design becomes "no wind gets through", and your favorite color becomes "warm") but look good doing so.

I know that companies like Nigel do ye old time mountaineering gear, which I like, but it's not really built for modern performance.  I don't think that Sir Edmund Hillary every did a flying jump kick in his gear.

Have you looked at the Rapha City collection stuff, and the Transfer pieces? They seem like they'd hit nicely on everything you're looking for. I own a few & they got a ton of wear in Portland both integrated into commuting wear & as active items for hikes etc

Sorry if I'm missing something, but doesn't basically every decent denim brand offer a version of this. 3sixteen has the ST in a few fabrics, Tellason, Rouge Territory do one. And MIJ brands like Strike Gold, Flat Head 3sixteen+ and Iron Heart all have versions.

As Chet B pointed out, uniqlo has a new fit but since you mention Somet/RRL I wanted to ref those brands.

Wooster seems like a nice enough guy. I just don't think he dresses particularly well.

Just saw the (second to last) YSL biopic. So damn awful. I wish it weren't so.

definitely not a loose top block with tapered leg (a la most of the acne stuff). 316 ST is a traditional slim rather than straight in the top block. SL looks good through the top block, but not as aggressive a taper as I'm looking for

I'm prob just not describing precisely, but think the rrl low straight with some taper is the closest reference-- something w ~35"waist, 13" thigh, 9" knee, 8" leg opening. basically 'straight' through the knee, and then tapers to the hem. kinda like the DH 19cm but not quite as slim in the top block.

If you like 316's SL on the top block, why not just get that and have it tapered to whatever you want?

Dior and I is a much more enjoyable fashion related film. I would check it out.
