Granted that's only like for a few months.  The tech boom is big right now in the bay.  Bubblyish.

I have friends that work at facebook.  They are hiring like crazy, but a lot of people are leaving too.  Weird.

He says they hire a lot straight out of school and b-school and the people they get are so out of touch with reality.  Especially if your first job ever is FB, they get all upset and butthurt over the first sign of corporate politics and leave.  Little do they know...

Dropbox $8600 a month plus they put interns up in one of those new condo high rise buildings that's $2k a month rent for a studio. Even the Yahoo types are $50+ an hour now for interns. foo.gif

It's kinda impressive and sad at the same time that Google's 100/100/100 model for new hires is considered a baseline now. $100k salary / $100k signing bonus / $100k options.

I can confirm this via friends and personal experience. The companies have a university recruiting team that they send to top tier colleges to recruit software engineers and product managers. The expectations are quite high for these people. And yes they are getting insane salaries out of college which many deserve. These people are at the top of the class.

They are definitely not out of touch with reality. Maybe they get spoiled given the salary they get but thats kinda expected

Think about it these folks sacrificed years of their lives to be at the top of their high school to get into these colleges then they worked their asses off to be at the top at the colleges. Now they get the pay off, I think its well deserved.

And yes i am jealous of of the salaries.

Side note, i remember over hearing a young engineer complaining to a ceo of a company that there was no valet like at microsoft. lol8[1].gif

Do you have a source for this? I am in tech and never heard of it...

I'm in tech recruiting. I have friends and relatives who are involved with university recruiting at various companies. Facebook, Dropbox and Twitter etc.are all offering better packages than that now for top level new grad hires (in development).

I've caught myself hating on some futbol players fits for no reason, but I've taken a step back and said why?

SF as a site (I find) generally promotes the importance of sizing/texture/silhouette etc. When I first got here the fits that I like or can at least appreciate now were grandpa and or bordering on homeless panhandler. I mean I really looked at the pics and then when the price was stated I could not understand why someone would willingly pay to dress like that. Times change and with some info you can start to see the thought put into the fits and all that. So my question is if a forum member that posted a lot of fits (I'll use myself as an example) started posting with some D&G/DSquared/Gucci constantly...would there eventually be a general acceptance of the fit and at least the details of the items? I looked around at some Dsquared and Gucci and I could do some interesting stuff with it. Of course if I am spending that much on those brands, I would want to go gaudy and attention whore to be honest

I noticed in the Baller Sneaker thread a pair of Versaces got some love so its not that difficult to find just overly gaudy shit that are so gaudy they cross over into cool looking shit

so can you expand on the 100/100/100 thing? Does that mean a new engineer gets all 3? I find that really hard to believe.

IME its 100k salary and a combo of signing bonus + stock but not 300k total comp off the bat.

Yes, all 3.
