Kind of a stupid question, but -- does anyone know if it's OK to use suede protectors on suede jackets? I just bought a really expensive suede jacket, and would like to not have it look beat to hell after riding the train. Is it OK to spray a suede protectant on it, like you would with shoes?

without having firsthand experience, i'd just suggest spot-testing it, like somewhere on the jacket's inside or under the collar or something. if there's no change in color, there would prob be no harm in using it on the rest of the jacket

pompous and ridiculous article with idiotic premise. "why of course there is just one universal ideal of dress: elegance!  All these hoodlums dressed in t-shirts and jeans are ruining the fabric of society! If only everyone dressed like an English artistocrat from 1920, our moral compass would be fixed! Oh, the good old days when men had personal haberdashers and women didn't have that pesky right to vote."

Don't think it'll harm the suede, but the protector might rub off in areas where the jacket bends or creases or contacts other textured surfaces.

Dalrymple thinks exactly that, he's a conservative pundits anyway not an arbiter of taste, he just wants to see symptoms of western decadence.

Had he argued in favor of powdered wigs and cravats I'd fully support him.

When I tried them on in store and decided to buy them I was wearing a slightly off-white cotton knit and some black linen pants, which I thought looked really good.
Figured ^these would be relatively simple to wear well just letting pants and top (of which I own almost only monochrome ones) be a "neutral background" and let these sneaks draw the attention.
Now I'm kind of second guessing myself, thinking that maybe these don't look that good with the rest of the fit being monochrome, that maybe I need some more color in there to make these look good.

So, I'm simply looking for advice how to wear these? something in orange maybe?

(I'm open to the fact that I may need to acquire some piece/s I don't currently have in my wardrobe)
