Well, they should. I went to film school and had film history classes.

Good thing I don't wear pants.

Now go reblog our tumblr posts (styleforumnet.tumblr.com)  I've actually been reposting a lot of food posts.  I didn't eat that much last night, so I'm really hungry.

Music majors have music history, art majors have art history, and architecture majors study their history as well. At least where I went to school.

Learning by example is a pretty common way of teaching the arts. My school didn't have a fashion major so maybe it's not the same but it's a little hard to imagine that being any different.

If I asked an art major about Manet and they didn't know who he was, I'd be appalled. Same with fashion majors and the Antwerp Six, for example.

That is how academic training works yes, but the point is not knowing those things does not prevent someone from making good art.

No sales that I'm aware of, Brussels is not that great when it comes to shopping. Go see the Michaël Borremans exhibition @ Bozar (right behind the central station) (unless you're there on Monday when most museums are closed) then you can slowly head downtown to the Dansaert district (20min walk) where you'll find Stijl, Hunting and Collecting etc. The Margiela store is in the same area, just a tiny bit out of the way next to the Saint-Catherine old docks.

Brussels: Stijl (dries, ann, raf, kva, rick, schneider), Margiela flagship, Privé Joke (universal works, our legacy, howlin', etc), COS, bellerose (used to stock cabourn and engineered garments don't know if they still do), Fillipa K.

Cheers guys. Got plenty of COS and Filippa K in Stockholm, but Stijl sounds right up my alley and the exhibition should be cool if I have time.

Has anyone bought these AA tri-blend tees recently and can comment on shrinkage in a dryer machine? http://store.americanapparel.net/tri-blend-short-sleeve-track-shirt_tr401

Depending on the shrink and whether my hangers will cause indentation in the shoulder while air drying, I may go up to a large (I find basic essential even tees more convenient and softer after the dryer). Been a few years since I picked up anything from AA or Alternative Apparel. From memory it fit small after dozen or so washes... and this is regardless if the garment is 100% cotton or a blend of cotton-polyester.

Did Dries change their online retail/general retail structure in the last year? They seem to have gotten a lot more strict about sales and also selling between reasons. I saw the textured suit I was interested in at Barney's btw @sipang. Around $1095 pre tax during first round. Second round supposed to show on Tuesday. Before people ask, they don't adjust from sale price to sale price, only full price to sale. You could return in person and rebuy I guess.

No it's always been like that.

Of course I must happen to ask when for once its about fashion in this thread. Thanks for the pms, though!

On topic: it is ridiculous if you want to become a designer and have never heard of Antwerp six, helmut or margiela, period.

Not everyone gives a shit about Europe.

Or Japan.

Or America.
