I love coffee but I don't turn it into chemistry. I enjoy my chemex because it's pretty hard to make bad coffee with it even if I measure improperly and the clean-up is a cinch so if there's something similar for cold brew I might look into. My limiting factor is actually fridge space, I have a tiny fridge with brita and iced tea pitcher already taking up room

you don't need fridge space. brew it at room temperature and finish it that day. just pour over ice

it looks like it'd be a cinch to clean up but you can produce similar/same results with just a random container and a filter.

Yep that's exactly what I have. It's a simple contraption, which is why you could easily replicate it but it doesn't look too bad. You can brew at room temperature but I've had good success brewing in fridge too. It's pretty tall though so may not fit all refrigerators

If you're wearing ankle socks with boots...you're doing it wrong. OTC broooo!!!

I don't wear socks at all

Yeah, I wouldn't wear boots w/o socks either. The sweat and its smell are not pleasant things to deal with. Keep wearing the same socks for a week and you'll see...

Bought an aeropress a couple weeks ago after my shitty espresso machine stopped working. Pretty cool. Anyone have any tricks/tips?

I do 20g coffee (depends on coffee) and fill up with almost boiling water (bring to boil and let sit for 1 minute). I like the inverted method so the coffee doesn't drip (basically invert the aeropress when you brew it and press when done). Add a little water to let bloom. Wait 10 seconds. Add rest of water. Stir a few times. Wait a minute and press gently.

The best tip I could give is you want everything to be hot as possible. I pour hot water in the aeropress without coffee then pour water into cup from aeropress. I then wet the paper filter. I leave the water in the cup while I brew and once I'm done I discard the water and then gently press the coffee in.

There's also a world aeropress championship and they publish their recipes. Tbh I can't tell the difference between the most of them and the method I use seems good enough.

Their pamphlet calls it an espresso but it's not. Nowhere enough pressure for a real espresso and it doesn't taste like it either but it's great for brew coffee and super easy to clean
