Some of those are nice but I really can't stand anything that is at least Eau de Parfum or better. Fragrances less than that are mostly just alcohol and smell like it. In fact, one of my absolute favorites is only made in Abu Dhabi (and even when I was in town it was hard to track down) but it's pure parfum oil and it is just fantastic. Women f'g love it as well.

I don't know if this is a Cuban thing but I have always been brought up (and hammered into my brain by my father) that a man should always omit a pleasant odor. My father is a mans man very set in his ways that will not leave the house without his cologne and I think that has rubbed off on me a bit. After many years of trial and error with probably hundreds of scents my rotation consists of three fragrances right now.
I don't plan on changing for a lonnnngggg time

For Everyday (VIW and Aventus)

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 90

Special Occasions (Windsor)

It's actually Zagorsk that smells a lot like CdG x Monocle Hinoki, though if I were to go with either fragrance, it'd be Hinoki. Zagorsk has a much more synthetic and somewhat hardwood-cleaner smell to me, while Hinoki is a lot "fresher" and open-air. I've owned bottles of Avignon, Zagorsk, Ourzazate, and 2 Kyotos (crazy LN-CC sale one year when they shipped fragrances to the US), and I'd have to say that, like Synthese and others, I found that none of them had much staying power. Which is a real bummer, because many of them are really beautiful and unique. I think it's worth a sample still, at least, because maybe you're like me and end up liking one enough to get a bottle anyways despite its longevity.

I have even had a few CdG candles that I got for mad cheap on sale at that one crappy site that I can't think of. The site where Gilt tried to have like a real webstore? I think?

I liked Wonderwood quite a lot and @Spencer got me a bottle for the SWD Swap. Heavier and more staying power than a lot of the Incense line.

I haven't tried many fragrances since, so that's about as far as my knowledge reaches. I enjoyed Chanel Coromandel a lot, a lot lighter and more flowery than any other fragrances I wear, but now remember why I never bought a bottle (so expensive). During the spring and summer it's so hot here that I almost never reach for fragrances, so most of my scents tend to gravitate towards winter/cooler months, but Coromandel is something that I wouldn't mind wearing in the summer when I'm out..

Or be a tree

Pine, coal tar, and other woodland shampoos used to fight dry scalp could work. Very manly, if I recall, and a virtual nose-magnet, pinning those in your radius to visions of trees and hills. Like a forest with an erection, one co-worker said.

I don't know if there's a high-dollar equivalent.

CDG guerrilla 1 is pretty great. A little bit more metal than 888 or 2

Tom Ford wants to sell you a $660 minimalist sneaker that he had someone hand rub for three days.

Gah, says the leather Converse are a thousand bucks and are polished 'over three days' -- not even a continuous rub!
