Clip for How Can I Be Down, a documentary about Don Busweiler, Pervert, and 90s streetwear. Some crazy appearances by some of the 90s streetwear greats

Oi Polloi has an interview with the director Louis Loizou

Kind of awesome for anyone who lived through streetwear in the 90s.

They're referring to some feature or characteristic that's essentially just about design. Like a fabric that's softer or rougher, heavier or lighter. Or hand picked stitching. Or some "finishing" on a shoe. Etc.

IMO, this is like arguing that something blue is higher quality than something red.

Or sometimes they won't ever refer to design. They're just saying something is more expensive. "The quality on this is insane" a lot of times just means "This thing is super expensive!"

That said, there are objective measures of quality, which may or may not be observable immediately. A hide can be more or less even. Stitch density may be higher or lower. Tolerance at the factory may be more or less tighter. Yarns may be made from different grades of fibers. The entire garment may have French seams, which doubles the amount of labor. Etc... But yes, the term is used so loosely as to make it meaningless.

I feel that you should take some risk. I want a pair of tan Guidi 994 or 017 to work into my Salton Sea look. Can't find them anywhere. Someone help. Probably a size 44, possibly 45.

Is it by an artist? Or yourself, art?

Thanks dudes, won't be long. Feel free to PM me for details, don't want to clog up this thread.

These are probably going to be too small.

MIndtrive has a nice guidi buy, but only gets 42s and 43s.

Unfortunately, too small. They run small, and I hate tight shoes... so... Nice buy though. Also, would be interested in other brands. The look and feel is more important than the brand. Oh, also like the 940 model.

@jwalterweather that site (mindtrive) has a lot of nice stuff. How does one from the US order? Do you just write them about an item you like? Thanks.

Yeah they have some great stuff. I think they only ship to Japan, so to order from them you would have to use a proxy service. Brad-t wrote a great guide:

I have used fromjapan and it works pretty smoothly.

Cool, thanks.

I've used whiterabbitexpress.com for other stuff (Plus Minus Zero design, HTF Muji, etc) and they have been great. Not sure if they do clothing, too.

Will check out that guide.

There's one opening in Boston. It's going to filled with shrieking high school girls... I might go for the spectacle.

I met @A Fellow Linguist while in Boston for the weekend. Awesome dude. We burg'd out like kings and talked about mall brand clothes, brad-t's hair, a mutual phobia of Boulder, CO, and our grandmothers. He drank some dark hipster beer from a can, and I drained a tall Stella. No SF meet-up outfit photos, but I do have a picture of his smiling visage stored on my cell phone.

10/10 would burg again
