I remember the first time we stepped foot in an h&m was in dc in 05 I think it was. Had no idea what it was and all my friends were flipping out at how cheap everything was. I couldn't believe you could buy so much shit for so little but of course I left with nothing.

Is this the opening to your graduate dissertation?

So I've been thinking about suits lately and what kind of suits are appropriate for someone in their twenties. I mean what sort of suit would be good to wear if you don't want to look like someone who has to wear a suit for work or who doesn't know anything about tailoring. Because in my mind it seems easier for older guys, actually it seems more easier the older you get because you can sort of go all out and it'll work because it translates to that 'old man style' look, but obviously doing that in your twenties just looks like overkill.

Sometimes I think the 'ivy' aesthetic might work for me because it's less inconspicuous but there's a certain amount of attention to detail involved. then another part of me just thinks of it as too costumey, like there are too many affectations with the tie bar etc.

Do you guys have any other ideas?

Just my opinion, but I think if you have to ask questions like that, you shouldn't wear a suit.

If you like tailored clothing, how about sport coats?

Just wear whatever kind of suit you like and feel good in. If you're feeling self-conscious about the suit you're wearing, that's going to project. If you feel confident in the suit you're wearing, that will project as well. Pick a suit you like, get it tailored the way you want, and wear it the way you want to.

@YOLO EMSHI have you had a look through the streetwear suits and blazers thread? seems relevant.

Just saw a dude wearing a Burberry Brit trench inside out walking down the street. At least roll with mainline.

Dries. Lots of Dries. Every time I see Dries stuff in person, I ask myself why I don't own more. (Oh wait, $$). Also, Ann D has a cool T shirt that I want... but not for $400.
