yeah, if you want i will send it to you as compensation for thing thing i emailed you about, as i never wear it anymore. if you think you would, its yours!

tbh i wanted the one that turns into a bag more than the one i got. AND that one is available on his website, as far as i can tell.

http://unholymatrimony.net/shop.htm

but the thing hasn't been updated in years, so afaik buying one will just go into a black hole.

I was talking to tog and he showed me this and it's really awesome and it will literally complete my life (like I will cease to exist if I purchase this thing) but why is it $1500? I hate Harnden

Got an angry email today saying that Stephan Schneider "and his ilk" are everything that's wrong with men's clothing in the last 30 years, and that we shouldn't be selling or promoting his clothes.

This menswear bidness is srs bidness

what about schneider did he have problems with specifically? i feel like the label fits in to your stores philosophy pretty well. maybe he just hates sw&d and don't want us shopping in the same store cry.gif

but more importantly, where can i get those hangers?!?!?!

I do wish I could travel back to 1984, when menswear was at its height

Well you are in luck because the 80s (and 90s) seem to be back in a big way right now.

I think he was making a joke referring to everything wrong with menswear for the last 30 years re: schneider.

Perfect timing! Because - lo and behold! - part two of the Schneider interview is up. Sending an angry email about a man who does such amazingly funny voices on the phone with an overseas stranger is a betrayal of humanity.

From the interview:

Quote:

What would you say to a man who’s considering his first Stephan Schneider purchase?

I would first of all say, look at the garments. Discover the fabric, discover the details, discover the comfort. Because on one hand when you look at Stephan Schneider, very honestly you could say “Ah, it’s so wearable. It’s so easy.” Then you could go - well, people in Japan say “Oh, it’s just like Paul Smith. It’s just nice garments, that’s all.” But then I can tell you, “Ooh la la, it’s not like this.” There is a kimono pattern, it doesn’t fit that conveniently - so, I would like the customer not to think that Stephan Schneider is just ‘like sportswear,’ it’s ‘easy to wear,’ it’s ‘casual’ - it’s not that easy. It asks a certain effort of the guy that wears it. And I really want to tell the customer again, take this effort to wear the garment, and don’t just be too easy and just say whatever

It asks effort. It’s not possible to make a garment that does everything. That looks sophisticated, that’s easy to wear, you can wash it, you can - no, it’s not possible. A nice garment can only serve certain parts, and please, please take this effort, and in the end you will be very, very happy with the garment.

At this point, after our interview, Stephan asked if I owned any of his garments. I had to tell him no - that I was considering my first pieces from No Man Walks Alone, and that really, that last question was a question for me.

Isn't that contradictory referring to an internet store where you can't touch the garment to get a feel for the fabric and construction? There's only so much that images can do.

I just thought it was interesting that he said the internet shop is helpful to him, but it seems deleterious at the same time.
