I just visited Givenchy.com to price-check something at Ssense out of curiosity.

Clicking "E-STORE" in their main menu produces this notice:

It is baffling to me that the only way to access their online store is via iPad or iPhone. Why create such an arbitrary obstacle to the customer? I don't own any Apple products and I don't ever intend to.

Since they keep referencing Net-a-Porter, does that mean the Mr.Porter selection the closest thing to a conventinal desktop-accessible Givenchy web-store?

I dunno why.

Vests....

Planet money also had a piece on the benefits of knock-offs to the industry: http://www.npr.org/blogs/money/2011/01/26/131070709/why-our-t-shirt-will-look-just-like-everyone-else-s

There was a longer version of this story I think but I can't find it.

I dislike fast fashion, but not because of the knock-off aspect though.  In fact I'm generally all for increasing access to good design.  My problem is the quantity over quality mentaility that it promotes, and the ceaseless production of new trends.  Death by a million 20 dollar items.  Not to mention the ethical problems associated with sweatshops and shit.

I mean I'm not exactly immune though.  I have plenty of uniqlo crap filling out my wardrobe.

Re: talk of diffusion and copying by other brands.

Isn't that just a TON better than the same brand trying to have 'sub' brands and destroying themselves from the inside out?

No more women with their jeans tucked into their forever21 cowboy boots while wearing olive parkas, please god.

That sounds like a killer fit. Throw a FWK Engineered Garments label on it and watch the reblogs come.

RFT: I am thinking of buying an EG floral andover (the reddish one) but like half of my shirts are floral prints. Question: how wrong is it to wear two different floral prints like that? Is it so wrong that it's the only right thing to do?
