last census listed median household income in the low 50s. unless the distribution is absurdly chunky (which it's not), it's not possible for household income > 100k to be at the 56th percentile

for the record, personal income in excess of 100k is something approaching the 95th percentile, not sub-81st as the net income ref would suggest

It was actually an online calculator that a friend made, but I need to tell him that there is something off.  I realized this after I re-read my own post.  The medium household income in the USA is 56K and bits, and the distribution is, as you said, not that clunky.  The top 5th percentile, I know, is at 192K.  I plugged that it, and it came out with it being the 92nd percentile, which is off too.  I'm going to guess that the guy did a spline to fit the data points in the census, but did a crap job of it.

I worked in management consulting out of undergrad, and it wasn't uninteresting at all. on the whole, great experience and step stone for other things I wanted to do. I think a lot of multi-billion dollar companies would be surprised how much of the 'consulting' is actually driven by 24-year olds though

Actually, a lot my friends worked for, or still work for, McKinsey, and I've participated in those types of problem solving exercises myself.  My doctorate was from Caltech, and Caltech PhDs are recruited my management consulting firms because they tend to have overaverage analytical abilities and also specialized knowledge. I know that for a while (early 00s), McKinsey was taking tons of Caltech PhDs, and with a focus on the biology PhDs.  I think that these firms can come up with some great ideas.  The problem, however, is that the knowledge of the industries in which they work seems often superficial, and this leads to the problem of the model users not being expert enough to recognize when the model is going non-sensical results.

Meh.  It might be for you.  While my one friend hated it, I have another, a quantitative economist, who eschewed academa for management consulting, and loved it.  Different strokes.

Get both. Trust me on this. Depending on the size and condition, 950-1000 can either be on the higher end of pricing though. Granted, I wear a very uncommon size, so prices tend to be either much higher or much lower for me shog[1].gif

So how short are you nahneun? Have you pegged around 5' 2"? See where the complex comes from now. :p

I'm going to recommend that we redirect the conversation away from Management Consulting. We run the risk of summoning Artisan Fan into the thread. Then before you know it we're debating the pros/cons of using tax payer money for public education.

Also, in the discussion about money one thing that has only come up tangentially is Cost of Living. It's probably just as important as the raw dollars.

Price sounds fair for something "like new". I say get them and wear every day and don't look back.

If you're patient you can snag jun/wjk later down the line for 3-500 and rotate.

fwiw, I asked Jun, specifically, about his boots, and he tells me that they are exactly the same as the C.Diem ones - that he started making them because he liked them and couldn't find them any more.  He told me that the only difference is that his are made in Japan rather than Italy.  Take that for what it's worth.

one day jun will roll up on the forum and confront all the haters

Yeah having had both, if there's a discernible difference in quality/construction, it's beyond my level of understanding.

Well, if you want to be really pedantic, the back zipper itself is different foo.gif
