It was hot as shit in Dallas Today. Also, I'm bad at planning so I'm in Philly tonight with nothing to do. Anything cool downtown near Hotel Palomar?

Of course you're in town during a week I'm in DC. confused.gif

Depends on what you're looking for. If you're in the mood for an excellent Belgian beer bar, you're only a few blocks from Monk's Tavern. I haven't been to Franklin Mortgage & Investment Co., but I've heard that the cocktails are good (although I assume you can't swing a cat in Brooklyn without hitting a half-dozen mustachioed artisan mixologists, so maybe it's old hat to you).

If you're still around tomorrow, the Walkmen are playing what might be their last show ever at Johnny Brenda's.

edit: To clarify, Hotel Palomar is nowhere near Johnny Brenda's, although Philly's mediocre public transportation system could easily get you there.

Tria. has great food and booze, just around the corner from you at 18th and Sansom.

Rouge and Parc on Rittenhouse Square are both worth checking out.

I was able to fix it by putting a paper towel over the waxy part, and then running an iron over it, then moving the paper towel, doing another pass, etc. until all of the wax was picked up by the paper towels.  It worked amazing and you would never know any wax was ever caught up in it.

Do this, but with a brown paper bag.

Thanks for the rec's! Might check out franklins tonight. I'm producing the Jingle Ball tomorrow so I'll be missing any concerts unless it's after 11:30p.

I hear chinks has the best cheesesteak...

The Walkmen show (note: actually at Union Transfer in Eraserhood, not Johnny Brenda's in Fishtown) is part of a benefit concert with a bunch of acts, so showing up around 11:30 would probably be ideal.

The best cheesesteak I've had was from John's Roast Pork off Columbus Blvd., but the cheesesteak is an inferior sandwich unduly recognized as the quintessential Philadelphia hoagie. I recommend the Italian roast pork hoagie with sharp provolone, broccoli rabe, and long hots. DiNic's at Reading Terminal Market is a short walk away and offers what may be the Platonic ideal of the sandwich in question.

DiNic's sandwich so good and someone picked it up for me. Probably even better piping hot fresh.

Also, my ToJ jackets get to me from Korea faster than stuff from Margiela does. foo.gif

Lots of ss14 stock is up on LVR, in case anybody hasn't seen it yet -- way, way more than I've seen anywhere else (as usual).

Givenchy tees start at $1100 now. lol8[1].gif The Givenchy stock seems like a weird Tisci's Greatest Hits collection because there's the electronic/audio equipment prints from the runway show, a bunch of floral stuff that appears to be new, and then Madonnas/saints, baseball, Rottweilers, shark teeth, and even a Birds of Paradise tee, all of which were motifs from ss10ish to ss13ish (ugh, I sound as though I might as well be gravely analyzing a Nicki Minaj music video). I suppose I'm just surprised people will still pay MSRP for basically the same prints as eBay and the other after-market channels already offer at lower prices.

The amount of Dsquared stock is breathtaking in its vastness even more than its mediocrity. That page of clothes is more than Forward's entire stock, I'm sure of it.

On the subject of seasonal collections, Fall-Winter 2014 menswear begins in about a month.
- Jan. 6 has runway shows by John Smedley, Orlebar Brown, Jonathan Saunders, and Astrid Andersen
- Jan. 7 is J.W. Anderson, Christopher Raeburn, Margaret Howell, Christopher Kane, Alexander McQueen
- Jan. 8 is Pringle of Scotland, Tom Ford, Burberry, Christopher Shannon

Presumably Paris and London shows will follow hot on the heels of the London collections
