FWIW I just paid $280 pre- fees for my single donegal MTO. If you went double donegal in a special fabric it was more.

I think the best comparison would be to check it against the other significant b&s markets. sufu, sz, etc.

Just personally, I used to check b&s every day before the transition. Now I check it maybe once a month when I'm in the mood?

Also I think the examples you gave aren't that great because they're all readily available items at retail. What about people who are trying to flip rarer items? People definitely have more success with sales on sufu and sz. The single item system just creates more noise by creating more threads. Life was better when everything was aggregated into one massive thread. You sometimes find unexpected gems in those.

That's pretty badass; taking a look at that old listing I see what you guys are all talking about - great choices at reasonable prices.

I've been traveling a ton lately and my old luggage just isn't cutting it. Any recommendations for something 300-400 range for a checked bag size luggage?

We actually allow, even encourage, people to put items in the same category in the same thread.  The concept was to let sellers respond to the market as they saw fit.  It was also designed for ease of use.  However, there are some flaws with the execution.  Chief among these are that there are other, larger markets, (Ebay in particular), and that there is no cost associated with non-optimal behavior, which is exacerbated by the first.

Yeah, it's not super high on my list of things to do, mainly because it seems to be working very well in CM, and I'm loathe to make changes that could mess up a system that is working really well in the larger part of the system.  But it's definitely something that is on our radar.

Hrm I believe my item #1 describes my browsing habits via the old system. Its a pretty clear memory smile.gif Now I look at the s&w page see nothing I'm remotely interested in and move on.

Parallel it to Google search results and the goal of SEO. Eyeballs per page after the first tapers off dramatically which is a proxy for engagement.

Multiple items and brands in a thread title and less space eaten by useless pictures greatly improve the chances of something interesting on that first page and keeping me engaged.

I actually like the little pictures.  It instantly lets me know whether the item is something I'm interested in and should check into further.  The biggest thing I don't like on SuFu et al is that you get somewhat unhelpful titles like "Schneider, Visvim, MMM, Common Projects and more" and because those are interesting brands, I'll click to go inside, only to see half the stuff is sold and it's just a pair of MMM trousers rather than some cool sneakers or whatever.  At least here I can instantly identify pieces I might be interested with just a glance.  Also, I'm not as well versed in as many of these brands as some other people, especially the more obscure Japanese brands, so being able to put a picture of an item instantly to a brand helps me out in that regard.

You probably want something that rolls?  Or not?  Personally, anything bit enough to check, I want it cheap and rolled.  I would go for something form Riley&Briggs.

I don't think it's simply because eBay is a larger, more visible market. I personally would not want to use eBay as a seller because it's a giant fucking headache, and I would not be surprised if many sfers felt the same way. But something is clearly wrong with the system for, at the very least, sw&d if people consider ebay the lesser of two evils.

Nod noirwest. We all have different criteria and expectations. I can only speak for myself. The question is of the common case is closer to you or me. It seems like you are more willing to stick with it past the first page than I... If that's most people here then that's how it should be.

Just giving my random thoughts smile.gif I fundamentally have plenty of places to buy things (Too many) but selfishly like us all would love this place to be even more suited to my needs tongue.gif

The content is a reflection of the system, I don't think you can divorce the two. Used to be that id write one post, copy/paste across forums. Now that there is single item sales threads it makes more sense to put the time and effort and cost into an eBay sale (generally speaking , because personally I don't care for eBay) that reaches an audience several orders of magnitude larger. But this isn't to say other forums aren't suffering from their own systemic issues, namely being buried in an avalanche of sufu bumps within ten minutes of posting or banned elsewhere for improper punctuation.

I'd prefer selling everything here if that were possible, keeping it within the community I've been a part of for 5.5 years. and I haven't had any worse luck since the transition, if anything I've sold more.

Cash for bump is not ideal for me as some items I consider parting with but only for a minimum price else id rather just keep as part of a collection. Post count or join date would be nice for being able to post in there to keep things more tightly knit and participatory but all in all fok has managed well thanks amigo !
