anywhere to get black dior 19cm in raw for less than retail?

DH has them for $500, LVR is cheapest I've found at $480 (prob just get them from DH at that point).

I feel bad because I recognize CDG's influence and historical importance, but I can't help but feel that Rei Kawakubo is either crazy or completely full of shit.

Just prone to overstatement would be my guess. Artistic constraint is not a new idea; it's not even an old idea. It's ancient. And her idea of suffering is completely untenable from a class perspective. Yet it all makes a good reblog, I guess.

Like her clothes, though.

i have a hard time taking any artistic manifesto like that seriously. even someone who seems to labor on the idea of 'concept' like aitor throup still produces drivel (I was complaining about that in the throup thread). i'd be happier with designers saying things like, "yeah, i just get bored and like to play around with shapes and dimensions until I create something that I personally like and find interesting." i could get behind that. even stuff like that ann quote that floats around about black not being sad and how do you imagine a poet? well, her idea of a poet is kinda goofy to me. i guess she's thinking of shelley lounging on a chair in an opium den somewhere and not wallace stevens in a boring suit in a study in connecticut. anyway, i've gone off the rails here. it's friday.

brilliant madness. well i can't wear anything of hers from the past decade or so as it's all cut so slim (had to go to XL for blazers pfff) but you have to actually be crazy to release mickey mouse hats for $1k

i wish you continued this story ! maybe next time, over some tea (infused with opium???)
but i don't think any of it is meant to be taken seriously , these blurbs always sound like stream of consciousness that gets eaten up by the insatiable social media/blogosphere nonsense
