question for those of you who have traveled extensively.

i'm going to costa rica/panama in january for 23 days. i guess you could call it "backpacking" although i'm not sure what the real definition of that term is.

anyway, what should I be packing for clothes? it'll be summer there. right now my plan is a ~5 t-shirts, a pair of shorts, a pair of swim trunks, a pair of jeans just in case, and a light jacket (probably a millsurp m65 so i don't have to care about it if it gets ripped or something). for shoes i'm thinking something comfortable (new balance devil.gif) and a lightweight canvas pair of sneakers (prolly the JPs i already have). anyone see anything wrong with this plan?

mike868y, it'll be pretty hot and humid, so most cotton clothes are going to feel disgusting after 5 minutes of exertion.

For hiking, I'd rather wear a linen or cotton poplin button down shirt, or really a light merino tee.

Light trousers instead of jeans for the city... tropical weight wool is your friend. Zipped front pockets are useful - talk to your tailor. If I owned really lightweight denim, I'd probably wear that too.

Sandals over running shoes, especially for steamy rainforest action. For city shoes, JPs are ok, but will get dirty really quickly. If I could find suede shoes with a black crepe sole I'd wear those, but since they are only available in Bespokistan, my go-to travel shoes are all-black apc tennis shoes.

Other nice things: Icebreaker boxers, cashmere or merino v-neck, packable hat, merino no-show socks, softshell jacket or a shirt-jacket with button pockets.

Most all of this shit can be washed in a sink and dry by the morning.

No really fashion but I watched The Counselor. It was fun but pretty disappointing. I had heard it had bad reviews so I just sort of went in looking to enjoy bits and peices where I could but as a whole not CCs best work.

I blame ridley scott tbh. Prometheus didnt make anysense either.

In fashion relevance, all of javier bardens clothing in that movie was absurd. Fassbender might have the ideal menswear physique. Looked great in his suits.

Ridley Scott is making a Moses blockbuster now (= time not spent ruining Blade Runner)

I'd bring more tees, another pair of shorts and a good amount of underwear and socks (preferably ankle socks for shorts, if that's your thing). You'll sweat a lot and it'll be nice to be able to change at night without having to do laundry 3 days later. One long sleeved white linen shirt could also be god if you have to dress up somewhat. Milsurp jacket i good if it's light and it's not 30C degrees here. You def need two shoes. Those are fine.

It also depends where you're going. Being in the bush vs a city requires different clothes.

Crazy dries orange satin shirt and blue pants maybe?

white v-neck tee or u-neck + black jeans + white sneakers or black boots. You know how it's done dude, basically dress like how you did when we met and swap the leather for a jacket, no need to overthink blazers.

I try to have enough undies+tees for a week without needing to wash anything. As for the rest, up to you. I don't backpack but I travel extensively (in Marrakesh right now).
