Having never worn drop crotch pants, I may be totally wrong, but it seems like they would inhibit leg movement and so not be the greatest for athletic activities?

If you're referring to me, I'm not a part of any master plan. I'm just curious about the other side of the forum and understanding a different concept of style. Half-thought-out questions are the only kind of questions you have when you're learning something new.

Depends! The damir ones I'll probably be returning do indeed restrict leg movement. But if the material is stretchy, or if they have a ribbed gusset at the crotch or something, it's fine.

Funny, that's what I think of when I see drop crotch pants too.

Actually I don't think I've ever seen them in person. I live in DC though, not exactly a fashion forward city.

Ha, give me a heads up and I'll keep an eye out. Although probably the drop crotch will be tough to miss. I'm also curious if you can sit and cross your legs in those things.

Would you classify walking as a "physical activity"? What about the sitting and crossing legs issue?

biggest threat to drop crotch is running up stairs.

nyfw is almost here. models and fashion people and street style bloggers all over soho.

There may be exceptions, and it's not inherently awful as someone will inevitably argue, but still it strikes me as sad that Lanvin blazers (e.g. with grosgrain pockets c2012) and Margiela knits (e.g. the knit cotton yarn sweaters from ss12 priced over £1,000) are made in Romania.

The value of "made in Italy" may be largely sentimental, but these are luxury companies that literally as well as figuratively trade on intangible desire and emotion.

Sorta funny that this would be broguht up. The drop crotch pants that are ubiquitous on misguided youth today are actually pale shadows of a concept that has come and gone from Comme des Garcons collections, where the pants were really skirt pants. They were really, really, low. We are talking knee length and below - I never saw anyone sillting in them but I imagine that you could easiyl cross your legs {B]underp[/B] your pants, which is really an interesting idea. (Incidentally, a dangerous pant in which to freeball.) Comme des Garcons did them over several seasons in a variety of shapes and crotch levels,

I think that it's interesting that the concept has really been picked up by the designers who would like us to look like down-on-their-luck Sith Lords, and then usually only fairly timidly. It does make for an interesting silhouette. I would love to see someone wear a pair of really drop crotch pants and pair it with some workwear. Not all dark stuff, either, but something sorta fun, like some of Junya Watanabe's pieces.

I imagine that there are plenty of jersey material drop-crotch pants that stretch to accommodate whatever range of motion gym shorts offer.
