Frank Leder linen cardigan came in from SW I can only button the top 3 buttons because the cut is pretty long and straight and I have a big butt. Anyone else with the Leder cardigan even wear it buttoned up? It looks really good unbuttoned so I'm still gonna keep it. Narrow and structured, I got M and I'm usually between a 40-42 in most brands.
A 40 to a 42 puts you between L and XL in many European brands, where a M is more or less equivalent to a 38-39.
Yeah but a L in Leder I've seen is more of a true 42, especially the shirts I have of his, ive had to get them tailored down it fits in shoulders and chest just fine, doesn't feel tight at all thing is for me I always have problem in bottom areas. I can fit into pants with a 32" waist but I wear 34" because the cuts on most pants seem to be narrow in bottom areas for most pants.
They started coming back on trend maybe four or five years ago, after it started being OK again to wear a shorter jacket with a ribbed waist. It's probably about time they cycle out.
I'm 32 and still wear one (no branding or letters).
Not that I look anything like Slimane, but this pic always reminds me they can look good. I don't know when it's from, but 2009 or earlier.
I think that there are very specific looks are work with varsity jackets - you can either go full preppy (like Shoreman sometimes does), or you can go full on streetwear/Hypebeast, which can also look cool. However, threading the needle the way Slimane has here is pretty difficult.
fwiw, I don't like that runway picture of the slim varsity. I see nothing there that couldn't have been done better if they'd made that jacket a bomber or a pared down Harrington.
