I like some of the billykirk and want les essentials stuff that are a fabric and leather mix.

I really liked the gabardine dries bag from this ss season but the white on the bottom is a deal breaker for me.

Nah, I have no expectations to find something new in all leather for 250$, meant similar in size and shape (and that it's black).

Like this Billy Kirk http://www.billykirk.com/products/no-165-medium-carryall-black-1 but want something slimmer/smaller and less "classic"

Want les "shopper tote" was cool (still way to expensive though)

Didn't see any woodwood designs I really liked urth

Thanks for the tips both, a sketch is starting to form, will upload a pic later if I think it could turn out cool smile.gif

That makes me crazy! I think KVA did an eastpak bag that was kinda cool except for the fact that the bottom was white. Looks nice in the store, but it's going to look dirty in no time if you actually use your bag and do regular things like, you know, put it down on the ground.

nvm

That would be cool if it came in white, too

I'm sure you have your reasons, but I think there's likely to be a bit more depth to the culture than intolerance, racism and guns. Maybe there's an inseparable association there, but I don't think so.

I didn't really make it clear I suppose, but I'm not particularly talking about actually riding bulls and rodeo and stuff. I'm talking about cowboy boots and farming and the music and food and such.

I lump it all together as a foreigner.

I'm not trying to offend, but i take it you've never been to a rodeo in the states? I'm notnjudging - inhave similar facinations with othermcultural phenomena. Rodeos are a strange experience, though. They tend to cater to a specific segment of society. As with many things, the realities of the Wild West are much less endearing than the Hollywood version. I've been to rodeos, stock shows, hoedowns, cowboy bars, whatever - you have to really enjoy that shit in order to...enjoy it. I don't think it's that great. I don't find the culture fun, and I say this as someone who has a fairly sizeable fetish for western shit. The music is bad, the beer is terrible, the people are often (not always, of course!) narrow-minded, and farming is horrible. Rodeos are basically dependent on abusing animals, and even as a carnivore i cant say i enjoy watching terrified steers getting wrestled to the ground by men in plaid shirts. I have a particular distaste for barrel racing, actually. It's its own culture. Cowboy boots are pretty ugly, too. Just for the record, i have met a ton of really friendly cowboys as well, including a visitor from Kansas City in my local fly shop who wanted to know why I looked so familiar. He thought maybe I was a distant cousin.

Yeah, mostly what Synth said. I grew up with a number of these people, and while there is one in the bunch that is a decent person, most of them are the type to bully you only because they're passing down the behaviors they've learned from their forefathers.

To put it in your terms, imagine if Crocodile Dundee treated you like giant asshole because he didn't think you were as "tough" as he was.

Have realized that backpacks aren't for me, but not sure what I should get instead.

Don't want a "normal" messenger or briefcase, and "normal" duffels or weekenders are way too big (will be for everyday use and school)
Needs to have a shoulder-strap and would like having handles too.

Best ones I've seen so far are the Isac Reina and Philip Lim ones cyc posted in "should I or..." but those are way too expensive (and probably a bit too big)

So, anyone happen to have some tips for something non-leather(just costs too much) similar-ish black and cool-looking in the 200-250$ range?
If you know something more expensive, do please post too as I might try and sketch up a design and ask the local tailor how much it'd be

this might be up your alley http://www.haerfest.us/features/

you might wanna also check their old collections and get in touch with them to see if they have anything you like left.

I have always liked that brand based solely on linguistic admiration.

fellow Americans please do not reveal that our national mythology of "The West" and other such things marketed to rest of world are largely full of shit; that is supposed to stay just between us, thankyou.
