Do you need a sock poppet, so you can talk to it?

It's impossible for people to guide you when we don't know you and you need to figure out if you want to be terry Richardson or some unknown artist.

"To talk about paintings is not only difficult but perhaps pointless too. You can only express in words what words are capable of expressing— what language can communicate. Painting has nothing to do with that." - Richter

Picasso can paint a painting.

But words can paint Picasso.

probably since people rarely answer my questions. thank you for replying.

i do wardrobe styling but i figure that i don't want to work for an agency because i'm not interested in commercial styling for ads or styling celebs/tv hosts/whoever. i was thinking that visual merchandising could be an option but i'd prefer to actually style the mannequins so a small menswear boutique would be preferable to mass-marketed chain stores (club monaco, banana republic, etc.)

keep in mind that i don't need to work for the money; i won't starve or be kicked out of my apartment if i don't earn x amount of income, so i want to do styling that is actually interesting and not just dressing people in a cell phone ad.

I was asking if I should work with talented photographers with no connections to build my portfolio, or if I should work with this completely untalented photographer whose work I would never put in my portfolio because he has connections.
