556s can be had pretty readily for under $1000 but you're right, most are over. I hadn't priced any myself recently. Stowas start at about 550 euro though.

My uncle has a Rauschenberg in his living room. I'm incredibly jealous of course. I aspire to collect but I'm waiting until my living situation is a little more permanent.
on my list of 'purchases sometime in the next year' is a nice watch. i'm leaning towards a stowa or a flieger right now. part of what draws me to them is the particular history behind them, the idea of the automatic movement, and the longevity. most clothes i own (barring some shoes) are going to be gone in 10, 15 years max, but a watch could last decades if you hide it up your ass while locked up in a vietnamese prison camp

lol, I bought that Tissot out of college and had it for a while and liked it plenty.
This reminds me, I have three tickets to The National at Barclays on the 5th of next month. Was going to go with a friend and his girl but they're going away on a trip, if any of you fellas want two tickets at face value lemme know
Their first self titled Album remains my favorite by them though, I don't know why it gets overlooked by most of their listeners though. My vinyl of it is worn out I listened to it so much.
